I am being more realistic and shooting for at least 225 lbs ... anything under that will be gravy (or lack thereof).
The current medical thinking is that the size of the belly is the best indicator of how weight affects health. An "oversized" belly means you likely have plenty of visceral fat (the fat deep in the abdominal cavity) and are more likely to develop circulatory diseases, heart disease, cancer, diabetes and other problems. Some people can be "big" and have a slim belly and excellent health.

Many very slim people have oversized bellies that often lead to serious health problems.

Good work on the weight loss!

I was down your way the week after Christmas. I got a call, Dec. 23, that my mom was in critical condition in the ICU of Enterprise Medical Center. She had had called 911 because she couldn't breathe and when the rescue squad got to her house she was cold and blue. Congestive heart failure. We didn't even know she had a heart problem, she was always so active and strong. I flew in and out of Dothan. I thought about calling you, but hadn't brought your number with me and couldn't remember your real name. Always nice to meet a fellow cpapper.

Hey Bev, long time no talk. I admit I have not frequented the forum for a few months, but I am back. I sent you a PM with all of my contact info again. I am so sorry to hear about your mother's health problems and I wish her a speedy, complete recovery. It is interesting to note that the best treatment we now have for CHF in Alabama is ..... CPAP! All we used to use were meds, but they have really caught on to the advantages of positive pressure on these people with bad respiratory problems. I am also sorry we did not get a chance to say "hey" while you were here (always nice to put a person with an online ID).

I saw you said your piggy bank was gold on Wii Fit. I assume that is my next step, as mine turned bronze at 10 hours ... and silver yesterday when I hit 20 hours (only had it since Christmas). I enjoy the challenge of the games, and find myself more inclined to now do some cardio when there is stepping, hula-hooping, boxing, and running in the comfort of your own home. After about 20-30 minutes of those, I break off into obstacle course, rhythm marching (scored "Perfect March" on it a few times), some of the balance games like skiing and snowboarding, and my absolute favorite - snowball fight! Anyway, you take care and let me know if there is anything I can do for y'all.

Go for the GOLD!! I'm hoping that there is a diamond one next. Did you see the snow falling on the screen yesterday? Or the Santa hat on the scales on Christmas Day? I'm close to a perfect march, not quite, but close. I didn't think I would like the snowball fight when I was watching the grands play, but when I started, I couldn't stop. Have you tried the expert version? You die on the first hit!

For those of you that haven't tried it, yet, Wii Fit Plus is an incredibly fun way to tone up and strengthen your core muscles. It really helps if you have some competition and incentive. Wii provides that. Best money I ever spent.

The standard Wii Fit seems to have quite a delay between the various excercises so it took about 45 mins for a session and felt much of that time was waiting for the Wii to cycle to the next excercise. I lost interest in this in about a week and went back to 45 mins of walking . When the rainy season comes I am thinking about moving the Wii upstairs and just jogging in place while waiting for the next excercise to begin.
Does the Wii Fit plus have less of a delay between excercises?

I feel like there is a bit more delay than I would like between exercises when I am pumped, warmed up, and ready to cycle through my cardio. But it really does not take as long as you are describing muskyjack, so maybe they improved that. I have also noticed there is a button at the bottom of the screen under "Yoga," "Balance," "Aerobics," and all. It says something like "My Wii Fit" (not at home tonight and cannot confirm). When I click it I get to shortcut to the exercises that I have done the most, with quick selection right there without having to back up and go into different categories.

Bev, I am indeed "going for the gold" (I too wondered whether there are progressive steps beyond gold). I should reach the gold within another 8 days or so if I keep at it like I have been. I found out last night (off yesterday) that once you get to 3 hours of activities in a single day it will stop adding to your time - 3 hours is all it will credit you with per day. I do like playing the expert level snowball, but it tends to aggravate me too much when one hit knocks me out, so I mainly play on the advanced level (high score currently 62 - YEAH!) My wife is addicted, and I do mean ADDICTED, to the Balance Bubble. She will play it over and over and over until her muscles are sore from shifting her weight around and getting her core and back tired. I wish there were a more advanced level of Rhythm March, but hey, it is still a challenge to try and get a Perfect March (complete with a little musical commemoration). It asked me the other day whether I had noticed my wife's posture had gotten better lately, to which I answered, "Yes." She told me that it recently informed her "Someone said they have noticed your posture has improved." So it also seems to be inspiring you to inspire others. I hope everyone who gets one of these enjoys it as much as we are.

Yes, you can tell it to do a whole workout of exercises you choose and go straight from one to the other, just hitting "A" in between.

I usually pick and choose the exercises one at a time, but programming a full workout (either on the spot, or one to save) was one of the major additions in Wii Fit Plus.

It's raining today. So I thought I'd try out the "Island Lap" on the Wii Fit Plus. I borrowed a rebounder, because the running in place was kind of a problem. It was a good little work out because I can't run much in real life 'cause of the knees.

I also run on a rebounder, much easier on my ankles, knees and hips.

I have been inspired by everyone's comments about the wii plus.

I have the wii fit and purchased the "plus" today. I hope to get a manual treadmill to use for the running (i hate running in place). Keep those "tips" coming.

What's a rebounder and where do you get one?

A rebounder is a mini-trampoline.
I am wondering if anyone has tried Your Shape w/Jenny McCarthy? The idea is interesting.

There are a lot of mini-trampolines out there and I'm sure they are comparable. I like this one because of the stabilizing bar that is detachable and because it folds up.

BTW, this is another great tool to keep kids busy.

I haven't tried 'Your Shape", but I do use "Fitness Coach" . YOu can read the reviews on both at Amazon.com and make up your own mind which one (or others) would serve you best.

I borrowed the trampoline with the handlebar, but it was just too big for the room and I couldn't put it out of the way easily. This one is just 36" in diameter and I can put it against a wall out of the way. It's got a "wrapping" around the outside which is a warning that I'm getting too close to the edge. My knees do still kinda hurt today.

Thanks for the tip on following the dog/cat. I tried to lean real hard toward the other path, but that wasn't working. Also I learned that the dog that passes you at the beginning doesn't count for the quiz at the end.

I also have to put my Wii Remote in my bra because in my pocket the pace was coming up very erratically. Anyone else get that?

I wear athletic shorts that are too loose for keeping the Wii-mote in my pocket, so I just hold it in my hand and swing my arms in stride, works well.

And Bev, I now have a high score of 65 on the "expert" snowball fight ... finally got better at dodging!

My workout pants (capri pants with a drawstring at the knee) have a skinny pocket that I think is for your cell phone or iPod, and I can cram the Wiimote into it; but I find it works best when I just hold it in my hand.
