Wii Fit Comments?

Post by GumbyCT » Sat Jan 09, 2010 1:52 pm

Is anyone using or tried using the Wii Fit or Fit Plus?

If so, I'd like to hear your thoughts, comments, or suggestions. Esp. what you need to get started?? How much? And esp. what you liked?? Also what you didn't like about the Wii Fit or Fit Plus???

Is it worth that much money? Anyone selling them on CL?

Thanks

If you are looking for physical activity in front of your TV, get yourself a couple of Tony Horton DVDs off eBay ... much cheaper and prolly more effective.

Damn'it, I'm GumbyCT, I had a chance to try Wii at my sister's at Xmas.

We played golf, bowling, boxing, down hill ski racing and bob sled.

Golf was some what entertaining.
Bowling was the most realistic...but its bowling...boring,.
Boxing was a bust. The motion on the screen did not mimic your exact movements.
Very frustrating.
Down hill skiing was too fast and could not figure how to move the deal to control it.
Bob sled...same as skiing.

I most entertaining thing was the snide and rude comments the commentators
made when you were crashing during the ski/bob sled games.
Very funny.

I was not impressed.

YMMV

My kids doctor actually suggested we get this for them. I was curious too if anyone has it and if it has helped. It was suggested that a portion of the time they spend playing video games has to be on we fit exercising.

I love my Wii Fit. The Wii Fit Plus is even better. I am the Queen of Short Attention Span, though. So I don't use it regularly. I like the balance exercises. I don't think I realized that I was becoming unbalanced as I've matured. I have a friend who uses hers every day and has since day one. Loves it. I think if I lived in a place where I couldn't go outside all the time, I would use it more. It can get really addictive. I want to get it RIGHT! The Wii Fit Plus has many activities that sure beat sitting on the couch or in front of the computer... hmmm which I'm doing right now.

Got the Wii as a family gift along with the fit plus w/board. The activities are fun and very much a workout. We were faith with it a few weeks. But it is as with anything you have to keep it up. I haven't "used it" for a few weeks, don't get me wrong, I still play with it but for fun.
The real test is if you a person who sticks to routines this could be an effective and fun tool. If you have a ThighMaster in the basement and a treadmill in the bedroom that has been converted to a clothes hanger then consider it a gaming system.

I absolutely love my Wii Fit Plus. My piggy bank is gold (logged over 30 hours). My grandchildren are playing it now. I have all week to beat their weekend scores. I also use My Fitness Coach as my daily fitness trainer. I don't dare disappoint Maya. These games are positively genius. They got me away from the computer and moving.

I would recommend these to anyone who. like me, would never set foot in a gym.

Nope, not selling it. I like it. I just don't use it as the basis for a fitness program. Since I can get single minded about things, I think I'm better off jumping around and waving my arms in front of a computer trying to get something right; as opposed to sitting using the mouse trying to get it right. What I think is hysterical, is if you are doing any of the balance activities, if there are people in the room watching you do it, they all lean and bend as if they are on the board, too. It's so hard not to.

I do weigh in most days. I like to be slapped in the face with my BMI in the morning. It's a motivator. Also, my dog has his own icon and he gets to weigh in, too. AND, it reminds you of the birthdays of all the people that are on your unit; gives you plenty of time to go shopping.

I HAD to have my system because I was the ONLY kid on my block without one, a year ago. But, I think the price has come down some. Costco has them. I think they run about $200 for the computer system. The Wii-Fit board with disc was about $80. With the system you get the sports disc, which is fun. I like to do the fitness test.

I actually did the golf one on the Wii-Fit Plus and I swear it helped me with shifting my weight forward and my swing improved.

Well, I'm going to take the dog for a walk now. Gotta change clothes, though, it's too warm for a sweater.

Add me to the list of people who love the Wii. I just got the EA Sports Active and have only used it twice, but I'm loving it too.

Seems like it would take at least $280 to get into this Wii thingy. I think that is waaaay overpriced.

Check out the "Natal project" on you tube. Wave of the future. Your body is the controller..no need for handheld controllers. Exciting innovations...the games will require that you move your whole body.

Have Wii Fit and Fit Plus.

Use Wii every morning to weigh myself.

I did do the exercises regularly for quite awhile, but after I got a thorn in my foot I couldn't and got out of the habit.

If used regularly it can be very good. Nothing like going to the gym and maybe a personal trainer but for something cheap it's ok.

I'm glad I got it.
