Thanks to everyone. Just got back from the funeral home -- I drove Dad. The director had to leave the room for a bit, and Dad was sitting there, and then he shook his head, and said, "I keep wondering what's taking her so long because I need to get home and take care of your mother...."

We're going to take him out to eat tonight.

We'll be having a memorial service in a few weeks....

Thinking of you during your mother's death. May memories, friends and family guide all through this period of transition.

I must have missed the part about how old was your mother?

Thanks to everyone for wishes and thoughts. Mom was 87 years old. This last year has been pretty tough on her -- she stopped being able to walk around February. Plus, her eyesight was going, and for a person who loved to read, that was torture.

But now I see her walking in a garden, with no stumbles, her hair dark sable as I remember it from when I was a child, and her eyes sparkling.

There are four dachshunds and several cats with her, and the border collie / beagle cross I grew up with.

Now it is for us that I grieve.

Isn't that the truth. For your mom, it is a release. But for you and your dad, it is so hard. Please take good care of yourself and him. It sounds like you have wonderful memories that I hope will provide some comfort.

I am so sorry. I lost my mom in hospice in 2002. She was 85. You and your family will be in my prayers.
