FREE PurSleep (Aromatic) Samples

Thanks to comments from forum members, the push to develop aromatic samples is in full swing and pre-production sample kits are available to anyone and everyone.

The basic idea is that the sense of smell is part of the limbic system, the emotional center of the brain that is also responsible for feelings of anxiety, stress, and frustration. Nothing changes mood and emotion faster or better than a pleasant smell. Also, the human mind can focus attention only on one thing at a time, so a pleasant aromatic in the cpap system allows you to focus attention on the pleasant smell to the exclusion of other distractions (pressure, noise, the mask, etc.). In this respect, aromatics present an excellent way to become desensitized to cpap equipment.

The passive diffusion system lightly scents the air as it's being drawn into the cpap / bipap machine. Nothing touches the equipment. The current product line includes 16 aromatics, ten all-natural essential oils and six high-quality synthetics that were selected with the help of dozens of volunteers. We are in the process of adding samples to the product line and this is an invitation for anyone to try pre-production samples (no fancy labels etc. yet).

The samples will either be in small glass perfume tester vials (with unscented compressed fiber pads specially designed for diffusion of aromatics) or aromatics on pre-scented pads (the AirCandy fragrances seem to be performing well as pre-scented pads) packaged in small, zip-lock baggies. In either case, select one that you like and place it near your CPAP air intake. To dispense from the vial, remove the cap, place a pad on the top, and give it a shake. That ought to be enough for most people. If not, repeat. There should be enough aromatic in the vial for 5+ shakes. If your nose is particularly sensitive, there is a little dauber on inside of the vial cap that can be used to dispense mini-drops of aromatic onto the pad. For the pre-scented pads, a drop or two of water will facilitate the diffusion of the aromatic.

Do NOT place the paper pad directly on furniture and WASH your hands after handling a pre-scented pad. It works best to place the pad on top of the plastic baggie but you can use a coaster or plate or something equivalent so contact with furniture is avoided. This diffusion material works very well. You can cut the pads if the aroma is too strong. The samples do not include the ceramic diffuser base or any bottled essential oils or aromatics.

All you need to do is to send an email to sales@pursleep.com and provide a mailing address.

It would also be helpful if you listed, in order of preference, the top six aromatics you would like to sample. I can't guarantee you'll get everything you request but I will try to send out your top four. There are sixteen total aromatics available except that Creme is excluded because it does not work well enough in the sample format. They can be viewed on the website (see below).

The intention is to not only make these samples available generally but to provide free samples through DMEs to new patients during setup. Any comments, feedback, suggestions, etc. on this topic will be much appreciated.

Samples should be shipped within a few days and you will receive a separate email providing instructions and information.

This product has been on the market for about 18 months and has received overwhelmingly positive responses from the people who have tried it. The samples provide a cost-effective way for people to experience the product and then use only the aromatics they like best. I like the scratch and sniff website idea.... I suppose you have to get one of those Matrix-style in the brain interfaces, though, to make it work.

Hey, if you haven't tried it, try it. It's a blast! Smells way better than your plastic mask or your DH/DW's farts.

Update:

I've been able to post the first few days' of requests and will be sending out the balance next week.

Please note that the plastic zip-lock bag used for the samples is not 100% impervious to essential oils but they are quite good. It's the best solution on the market for this pre-production circulation of samples. Once this scales up we will probably be using little foil-lined bags used for tea and other sample products. Before investing too much in that process I am hoping to get some useful feedback using readily-available materials. I've been testing the diffusion material for quite some time and it works well.

Just remember to not allow the scented pad to come into direct contact wtih furniture or anything that may be damaged (like a book).

Finally, people keep asking me if this offer is still open. Yes and I hope to be able to keep it open for quite some time.

Bret: It would be fabulous if you made the sample type product available as a 'disposable' product. I would mainly use the disposable product to travel with. Taking the bottle, pads, ceramic dish . . . it can be a bit much. It would be great to be able to throw the disposables in the APAP case and head out. I don't know what the shelf life is though, so maybe this isn't feasible.

I don't intend to stop using the bottles. Nothing beats mixing my own blends by having all the scents in bottles.

By the way, I'd love to try some new scents. I'll email you.

Love the IDEA -- I do allot of traveling and the pads would make it easier than carrying the bottles ? LESS hassle on airlines just a snap on train travel my preferred method of travel.

Update on this thread:

Thanks for all those who have contacted me about the sample offer. It is still open to anyone who wants to sign up (see the first post for details).

After quite a bit of work, I've concluded that the pre-scented pads aren't going to work very well, primarily because essential oils aren't compatible with even the best plastic bag materials and packaging pre-scented pads in foil wrappers or the like is not feasible at this time.

So I've decided to use glass perfume tester bottles (with enough undiluted aromatic to last several nights each) along with unscented compressed cellulose pads. It's taking a bit of time to get materials from suppliers and get samples in stock so please be patient! There's a fairly long line of people waiting but I think you'll be happy when this finally comes together.

Finally, I have very little feedback from people who received the pre-scented pads. If you could take a minute and let me know if they worked I'd appreciate it, primarily so I know whether to re-send bottled samples.
