SleepGuy

I signed up to receive the samples. They arrived quite quickly! The samples worked just fine the way they were, not perfect but they still worked. I placed an order for the starter kit and can't wait to get it. Thanks so much!

I got my samples as well. I see what you mean about the plastic envelopes - my letter smells GREAT!!! But I can't really distinguish wish aroma is which. They're kind of blended together. But like I said - the result smells really good! I put the empty envelope in my gym bag!!

SleepGuy,
Many thanks for the samples. I was pleasantly suprised by how fast my samples arrived. The envelope smells great. However, (and maybe it was the scents that I chose) all of the sample pads smell pretty much the same. The aromas have mingled. Not a bad smell -- just can't tell them apart. But I am using them with no signs of any problem so far.

Thanks again,

Josie

I've been using my samples as well. I'll definitely be placing an order, just trying to decide which scents to go with first.

Thanks again!

My apologies for not posting sooner
Thank you so much for the samples. Love them all! However, I had to stick my nose in each individual baggie to see what each smelled like. Yes, they seemed to mingle together (my whole mailbox smelled great too!) and were sorta dried too much to come thru the machine for me to smell them in mask. I think using the glass perfume tester bottles is a great idea!!

Like I said, I love them all and am working on getting all of them...

Just a side note - as a year-now user of PurSleep, I recommend you start with PEACE. It's the best of the line, being primarily lavendar, which is proven to have relaxing properties. It's also my favorite for mixing with other scents. Some of the scents don't smell WONDERFUL to me, but they have interesting properties to relax me, and when combined with PEACE they smell great.

Other folks here swear by Creme as a mixer. I personally don't like to smell Vanilla unless it's food about to hit my mouth. I'm definitely not a fan of Vanilla perfume, either. And the whole "food related line" of scents just isn't appealing - I have enough problems with my hunger, I don't need to smell food all night and be hungry more.

That said, I really like Peace, and as I've said on other threads, I just use the same pad over and over, and just dump each different scent on there and mix them as I feel like it. I primarily switch between Peace, and Spice.

Cheers,
Barbara

Another big fan of Pur Sleep here, been using it since about a month after I started CPAP and I definitely prefer the scents of the oils to the silicone smell of new masks and tubing.

My personal favorites are the citrus scents (Deep and Fresh), the creme, and from the air candy line the strawberry, peach, and black cherry - I've always preferred fruit scents to flowers. Many thanks to Bret for creating this product and for offering such a wonderful variety of scents to delight our many and varied tastes! BTW the perfume sample bottles sound like an excellent idea both for sampling the scents before committing to a whole bottle and for travel packs. You should definitely bundle up several together as a Travel Size pack for frequent flyers, perhaps with choices of 3 or 4 scents, 2 smaller pads, and no dish?

Thanks for all those who have contacted me about the sample offer. It is still open to anyone who wants to sign up (see the first post for details).

After quite a bit of work, I've concluded that the pre-scented pads aren't going to work very well, primarily because essential oils aren't compatible with even the best plastic bag materials and packaging pre-scented pads in foil wrappers or the like is not feasible at this time.

So I've decided to use glass perfume tester bottles (with enough undiluted aromatic to last several nights each) along with unscented compressed cellulose pads. It's taking a bit of time to get materials from suppliers and get samples in stock so please be patient! There's a fairly long line of people waiting but I think you'll be happy when this finally comes together.

Finally, I have very little feedback from people who received the pre-scented pads. If you could take a minute and let me know if they worked I'd appreciate it, primarily so I know whether to re-send bottled samples.

You can have all those spicey fancy dancy scents, they sorta took over the other scents, but the Black Cherry was pretty good, but why is it I smell Black Cherry as I type this.

You know, when I first opened the envelope and sniffed each ziplock, I had the same blending of fragrance experience. But all it takes is a drop of water on the pad before you put it in front of your intake on the cpap, and you can use that sample pad for at least 3-5 nights with very clear and distinct fragrance. Wonderful. I would strongly recommend against switching to very expensive bottles and shipping cost for just samples. I found what you sent to be a gift, and perfectly fine!

And the advance trial samples have enabled me to be willing to purchase your product. Thanks!

Now that's a fantastic idea--that would never have occurred to me. At least for the time being, the vials aren't a prohibitively expensive approach, even for samples and I think they'll work better for most people. At least we're going to find out.

Thanks!

Hi SleepGuy:

Are you considering including organic essential oils in the future? If the price point was close to other organic essentials on the market I'd buy lots of oil from you. I'd like to put it to many more uses. Do you know what type of extraction method is used to produce your oils?

Thanks : )

Gasp, most essential oils are produced through steam distillation. Citrus oils are usually cold pressed from the rinds. For very delicate and low yielding EOs (such as rose, jasmine, etc.), other processes are used that do not involve heat. The vanilla in Creme is actually an oleoresin extracted from vanilla beans (using drinking alcohol as the solvent), with almost all of the alcohol removed. To make true vanilla essential oil, the oleoresin is steam distilled, yielding a very small amount of EO (that stuff is fantastic but way too expensive).

As to organics, my primary supplier is heavily invested in sustainable practices and organic methods. I just haven't taken the time to incorporate their information into the website and marketing materials. In any event, all of their essential oils are certified to be pesticide and herbicide free, based on actual testing. I suppose I should market that point a bit.

This trial is still open so feel free to read the first post and respond if you are interested. I am working my way through the request backlog and should be caught up by the weekend--thanks for being patient.

Another update on this thread:

All requests for samples received to date have now been mailed.

And yes, this offer is STILL open to one and all. Just look at the first post and follow the directions.

Give it a try. It might just make your CPAP experience somewhat pleasant if not (almost) enjoyable. The aromatics also are reported to be very effective in reducing (if not eliminating) subsconscious mask removal as well as facilitating equipment desensitization.

I am working with a sleep doctor at LSU and would especially like to hear back from (i) new CPAP patients and (ii) people with unconscious "mask off" problems. He is evaluating doing a study involving these issues and, hopefully, getting something published.
