Hey I just thought of it, but I need a button for SHOPPING. I mean do I really have to go to all the trouble of typing in https://www.cpap.com ?????





...and being as farsighted as I am, the button is probably right there in front of me, but I just can't see it. Monitor distance is just too far to use my reading glasses, and so I often miss stuff....



ok ok, just reading the stuff about adding eucalyptus oil......thinking about smells.......thinking of a new product for sleepguy to add to his list......the scent timer. Put some drowsy, comforting scent on for 6 hours or so, then retract that into the scent timer box and send out a bacon and coffee scented pad. ....whaddaya think? Am I just Brilliant?????

This topic of smells has intrigued me......because I've thought of things that I like to smell, too. But, not all night long. That strikes me as something that would ultimately ruin my liking for the things that DO smell good to me.
Having grown up on a farm and living in an area where there is a lot of farming, one of the smells that I love is that of freshly cut alfalfa (hay).......but alas, there is no available "anything" in that scent, except for the real thing and then it's only a few times a year. I'm still not sure if I'd care to smell that all night, though.......I'd probably have endless dreams of stacking hay bales all night long.......

Is there a way I can turn off having "CPAPopedia" key words appearing at the bottom of my post before I hit the Submit button?
We used to be able to turn that off in the Options list at the bottom of a message we wrote, before submitting it.

I would rather be able to post without having anything extra appear in my message that I didn't deliberately put into it myself.

I realize that clicking "key words" can come in handy for some people - particularly new readers. However, even if some of us choose not to allow the keywords stuff, there are many members who don't mind having those appear at the bottom of their posts and will always leave that feature on. Just like before.

There will still be plenty of messages (probably by far the majority) that include "key words" even if you reinstate the ability to turn it off for the few of us who would rather not have extra words we didn't write (or put into our profile signature) show up in our messages.

Good job on the new board! Thanks for all the work you all did getting it up and running smoothly.

I LIKE TO ADD A BIT OF EUCALYPTUS OIL TO MY HUMIDIFIER IF I FEEL A BIT BLOCKED WHEN BREATHING, ARE THERE ANY HEALTH RISKS IN DOING THIS?

I wouldn't put anything but distilled water in my humidifier.
Anything you put in there, oil included, will be atomized and sent through your mask into your lungs......

You might want to look at http://www.pur-sleep.com and think about picking up a diffuser and some pads (along with some really cool oils!!!!). In the interim, you can put the oil on a cotton ball and set it under the filters at the air intake and see if that will work for you.....

But in the humidifier??? Nope. Not me!!!!

I had not learned that there was an option of this in the previous forum version! Yes, one more vote for what rested gal requested.

I don't know what I did, but I'm not READING keywords on anyone's posts on the new version forum. I don't preview my posts, but I don't see them on my posts either.

There must be a setting you can toggle on your personal profile and I've inadvertently found it.

Correct! Just make a test post, with one of the keywords you see in any of the msgs here in this thread. Yours will also show that keyword line. Notice when I quoted goose's line, I got the key word line too.

EDIT: Yes, mine shows up. BUT, what is different from before the change in board format was that I could go back in to edit my post and delete the notations for CPAPopedia and now I can't because they don't show up when I go into "edit' like they used to.

Apparently, the limited (thank goodness there aren't more! ) number of words that will trigger that keywords "thing" are here:

I've always thought it would be better to have a big button at the top of the cpaptalk page for DEFINITIONS. A button that's easy for a new reader to find and has a list of common definitions and acronyms. A BIG button up there instead of keyword links that a new reader might not even notice. I'd just drop the whole "cpapedia" thing in favor of a DEFINITIONS button and a list of definitions instead of links to topics.

A Definitions list including the terms that appeared here would be a good start:

But make it be a list...not just a link to that topic.

Pam, it was interesting that in your experiment the word "h u m i d i f i e r" which would usually trigger a keyword appearance, didn't do that in your post. Maybe the dot in front of the word or the comma attached to the end of the word prevented it.

Thinking more about a "Definitions" list and a prominent button that a new user could find easily...

I'd get rid of that "Popular Tags" box and put a BIG Definitions button right up there.

Heck, all that space being taken up by "Popular Tags" could hold two BIG buttons. One for Definitions and one for the Shopping button 3aisles would like to see.

LOL, Babs! Yep, we're pretty good at "shopping."

Seriously....I think a lot of new people who find this message board don't realize for a long time that this message board is made possible, supported, and owned by "cpap.com." Doesn't mean they/we have to shop there, of course. But since the prices are generally competitively low at "cpap.com", it's a good place for them to start their search for equipment if they're considering buying from an online store.

As far as I know, "cpap.com" will price match if the person does find a lower price elsewhere. A "Shopping" button (or perhaps call it "Equipment Store" or "Equipment Shopping") would take them to a mighty good place to start.
