Nazareth,
You are right. It could be that this is just a flaw in this particular individual mask. Otherwise, it fits very, very well and seals well. However, that said, I did receive a pm from someone (that I'm having trouble finding), that mentioned the same defect with their HR, but I don't remember if they mentioned what pressure they used. I'll look again today to see if I can find that pm.
I was very disappointed. I already knew it fit well and worked well at higher pressure because I had slept with it prior to surgery. I was really hoping to use it during recovery. I intended to fiddle with it some yesterday to see if I made some mistake with it in my drugged state after the surgery, but I haven't managed to do that yet. Maybe later today.

OK,
Another update:
A very generous and kind Aussie who heard I liked my size small HR sent me a size XSMALL and I finally had the energy to clean it and give it a go today. Since my machine is now in the living room, I put it on and watched tv for 1/2 hour. WOW! I thought my size small fit well but I was WRONG! The XSML fits PERFECTLY. Like it was made for me! And it didn't do that weird pulsing thing that I noted before, which I'm now wondering is because I was so drugged up I couldn't get the mask that "almost fit" to seal properly.
I still have to wear it all night to be able to give more info, but hey--this is promising stuff. I am so surpised. I am a 6 foot tall woman with a large frame. I'm a little overweight, so I'm shocked that I would need an xsml--these things run very, very large.
And I know people are put off by the straps that come around "they eyes" but they don't touch the skin and don't block vision too much--how could I watch tv otherwise--and comfortably, I might add.
It is funny, how low my standards are for masks--the size small almost fit and I raved about it--because I had never known anything that had fit better than THAT! But now I am surprised by how much more comfy this one seemed! The true test will be tonight, of course. I'll keep you informed, as usual.

Jen

Hey there Jen,
If you think that the pulsing thing was an isolated, drug induced event , I'm still game to try out that medium. Give me a holler...no wait...don't holler. You'll hurt your throat. Just send me a message.

Jen or anyone,
Any news on a ship date for the V2? One vendor is taking pre-orders, but I just called our host, cpap.com, and they had no information.

Hey Jen,
Any word on the HR V2?? Haven't seen anything about it on their site...or anywhere else for that matter.
I guess I'll wait until it's released and I've had the opportunity to read some reviews -- especially here --
Also understand necessary silence about "testing".....
cheers

Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?

No, I haven't heard from them. I don't know really if I am the best person to be testing it now that I have finally realized that the problem is my personal anatomy. I have a receded jaw. This is going to make any full face mask very difficult to fit unless a manufacturer makes one just for a receded jaw.
I found that ultimately I could put the mask on at bedtime and have it be comfy and leak free (a first with a full face!) but it never lasted all night. I would wake up about 2 hours later and it would still be leak-free but my nose would be painfull. I don't know if my nose would toughen up like my nares did when getting used to a pillows mask. I kind of doubt it--instead of feeling like skin irritation it felt like deep bruising pain.
The fact that it was leak free and comfy except for the nose thing (caused by my receded jaw--simple geometry) means that I personally think this is a great mask for the avg face--if you get the right size!
I have 3 hr masks out on loan to other folks to try. Twolf, I'm very sorry, somehow you weren't on my list to try the med. That is my oversight and I apologize. I am adding you to my list now. The medium I think goes to Nazareth next after the person who has it now is done experimenting with it. Then Naz, you should pm Twolf and send to him.
I'll have to blame all the drugs for my confusion. I hope the folks who are trying it will post their experience soon. I'll shoot out some pm's. They should have had the masks for about 2 weeks by now. Enough time to get an idea of what they think, imho.
I haven't been receiving my regular emails when posts are added to my threads. I don't know why. I have trouble keeping up with it all. Too busy.

Oh, man. You do not want these drugs. I apparantly cannot "do" narcotics. Can you imagine vomiting over a surgical site? The worst day of my life I vomited twice over my tonsilectomy site. I would rather give birth to triplets. And my last birth was a 10 lb 5 oz baby, so I know how hard birht is, believe me.
But I'm glad they are gone now! I'm still recovering from the sleep deprivation though (post surgery 1 month--only about 1 week of 100% compliance). I am still dragging my butt thru the days. Hopefully I'll get over it soon and be back to my perky and semi-organized self.

Wow Jen, this sure has been a rough one for you. I've always heard that it was harder for adults, makes me glad I got my tonsils out when I was 9. All joking aside, I'm sorry you've had such a hard time of it. I really hope you start feeling better soon. I'm thinking of you and sending lots of positive, healing energy. You take care of yourself.socknitster wrote:Oh, man. You do not want these drugs. I apparantly cannot "do" narcotics. Can you imagine vomiting over a surgical site?
