I was in sales, for years. I was a store supervisor for a small family-owned greenhouse. I hear tell that people still come in (5 years later) asking for "that tall girl who knows so much." Ok, Ok, I added the "who knows so much" but they still ask for me because I was good at sales and am interested in a wide range of topics.

I helped folks cure lawn fungus and kill weeds, plant grass and choose which variety of asparagus to plant in their gardens. Kind of ironic, since I'm an organic gardener and wouldn't use half the stuff I sold unless utterly and completely desperate. But people came there desperate to solve tough problems usually. I figured out why plants weren't blooming and prescribed certain fertilizers, why stems weren't stong enough and prescribed supplements. I taught people about pruning and bug life cycles and grafting and how to grow their garden from seed.

It was fun, it was hot in the summer (no air) and there were lots of chemicals around so I washed my hands a bazillion times a day. Sometimes I miss it, but I had to quit when I found out I was pregnant w/ Harry because I was exhausted and I had already lost a pregnancy and I had no idea I had severe osa.

I won't go back because it wouldn't be the same and now I know I owe it to myself to fulfill my potential in a different way. I either want to work for myself or do something to make a difference for other people. Or both. But sales, yeah, I'm a natural.

It comes more from the teaching side though, because inside I really want the best for people and can't always consider the bottom dollar. That used to get my boss so mad at me when I would just tell the truth instead of fudging. I remember one time a girl was asking me about how to get a plant she had carried up to the check out to bloom again and I told the truth--that it was next to impossible without a greenhouse to get that particular plant to bloom again and that it was also predisposed to lots of bugs. I tried to steer her to something more appropriate but she left without buying anything. I got a lecture that day, but it didn't change me. I just cried, nodded, and kept on being me.

I have the same problem as you- the bridge of my nose is narrow, and apparently too tall from my face and the masks I've tried ALL hurt quite badly and leave an aweful mark that takes about 2 hours or more to fully go away. When I was picking my machine up, they had a Hans Rudolf mask, and I almost chose it, but the DME tried pushing another cheap mask on me, and took the Hans into another room to get another mask, and by time I was doen trying on masks, I forgot abotu the Hans- ended up choosing the Resmed ultra mirage and I absolutely hate it as it really hurts- Thing is, it feels nice and comfy for a hour or so, but then the pain starts and just keeps getting worse the longer I wear it- which oif course I didn't realize tryinhg it a the DME shop for just a couple minutes.
If I get the Hans Rudolph size med back, do you want to try it? What size do you wear in the umff? If it is size Lg, the med HR may fit you.

Hi. My name is Barbara. I'm a lawn killer. (Crowd says hello, I sit down)

Oh Jen, I need to fly you out here for a consultation. I think I'll take a pic of my lawn to show you. It's the blight of the neighborhood. My attempt to "go green" and ignore the grass and not water it has not resulted in precisely what I was hoping to accomplish. I don't know what I was hoping to accomplish......

LOL,
B.

Send the HR to Debbie or JennMary or anyone else who wants it first. I really don't want a FF. Save me for the last on the list.

I just like playing with you all.

It's sort of like my sewing forum - I'm talking and playing and having a ball online, and then I invite people over to my house live and they discover I really can't sew, don't like to sew, and will do anything to avoid sewing.

Turns out they had a good time anyway, so they just laugh at me and tell stories about me, but still like my company, so it all works out. Except my sewing never gets done...

LOL,
B.

Babs.....I bought a sewing machine and all the fun toys to go with it, fabric, every color of thread, and even all the stuffing and everything to make all these great projects I had in mind.

Then I realized I cant sew to save my life. I altered my nephews way to big halloween costume last year.....lets just say it was a good thing it was dark when he wore it.

Oh JennMary, YOU'RE A REENACTOR AND YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IT YET!

I think you need to join my little cyber sewing club. We talk about sewing. We swap patterns. We buy fabric.... I never sew. The others, well, I can't speak for them.

LOL,
B.

Terrific! lol...I really wish I could sew, though I dont know that I have the patience. This is just one of the fun little projects I got into my head and never got done. Trust me...the closet with the sewing machine is full of other crap I never used or finished. Tennis raquets, yarn, all kinds of crap. I am going to bet that within 6 months there will also be soap making and lip balm making tools in there. I am jennifer, and I am a project abandoner, hello jennifer and the people sit down. lol

I KNOW! WE CAN SWAP PROJECTS! I'll send you MY abandoned projects, you send me YOURS, we'll feel like we accomplished something because OUR PERSONAL FAILURES don't live with us anymore!

I once had a garage sale and only sold reenacting related things. It was non-advertised, only friends invited. I sold off TONS of partially started sewing projects for CHEAP!!! I made $1100 in two days. It still took me HOURS to haul all the leftovers back into the garage, and there was no discernible lessening of the height of the piles...

LOL,
B.

Jennmary, I used to be a non-sewer too. Then I took up quilting for a while. Nice straight lines. It increased my proficiency with the machine and gave me confidence. Now I have even made stuffed animals for Harry.

I probably do half the projects I buy for. My name is Jen, crowd says, Hello, Jen. I sit down.

I'm making soap later today!

At this point, I would almost pay that much! In another week, maybe I'd double it.

I didn't know you had a ComfortFull2 too. Have you tried it under pressure? Well of course you have - you're Babs. So, you didn't have any leaks out the bottom on either side of your chin?

You must come for a visit and we'll have a mask party and watch movies so we don't seem like complete hosehead geeks.

Oh, the CF2 was a present. I only laid down and tested if for a few minutes under pressure. I haven't tried to sleep with it. You wanna try it? Or are you having trouble with yours? I'm no help with it, as I really haven't tried to wear it all night.

I'm for the Mask Party! Call me after you find the dress that will need hemming or tweaking...

LOL,
B.

I have a CF2 - it leaks like crazy out either side of my chin. The DME is getting me a Quattro - it should be in soon.

Notice my new avatar? Raindrops keep fallin' on my head : ) I figured since my mouth isn't open in a 'gasp' anymore, I should get rid of the green monster avatar.

My Mirage Vista is the best mask I've had yet - if only I could get it to quit raining : )

I wanted to put out an update on my experience with the hans rudolph 7600 mask (this is copied from another thread):

At lower pressures I was having trouble with the anti-asphixia valve "pulsing" open and closed during exhale and inhale. It shouldn't do that and made the mask very distracting and I was concerned about safety. Very frustrating to find a full face that finally fits and then develop an unusual problem like this!

That said, Hans Rudolph is coming out with a new version of this mask this fall, ostensibly to correct any problems like this.

I didn't have this problem at pressures around 10-16 but did at pressures 6-9 cm water.

I was really hoping to use this post-op after my tonsilectomy and was dismayed and irritated that it wasn't possible. Will continue to explore this issue. I may shoot an email about it to the manufacturer. They have already agreed to let me test drive the new hans rudolph when it arrives on the market.

I have an email into Kelly Rudolph to see if this is a common problem and if it is something they are addressing with the new mask.

If you are the person who reported having this same problem to me a few weeks ago, please pm me again so we can compare notes.

Jen
