I happen to agree with that deleted post, I find it to be quite honest and accurate. Unlike some, we don't log off and spoof our IP address toss out a slap shot and log back in. If it comes from me I want you to know it. IP address may be missing but the MAC address may not.

mmm.... wonder who here once boasted they did a bit of dabbling in IP Sec?

<snip>
Snoredog,

Do you care to elaborate ...
- who spoofs ip addresses ?
- where has this been done (evidence) ? or is this just an impression ?

What is your point ?

Thanks

SAG, are you really a modorator at sleepapnea, org?

It's not quite as informative as this forum, but at least you don't have to sift through cussing, insults, mud-slinging, ego maniacs, name-calling, and opinion bashing to get to the information you need. Freedom of speech should be tapered with civility and common courtesy--something adults should be able to do more than it's done here.

I came across this link while researching an entirely unrelated matter but I share it because it seems pertinent to this discussion:
http://www.firelily.com/support/recover ... rdant.html ("Diane's Flame-Retardant Elixir"). I think DSM that you might find this pertinent to the issues you are raising.

I think this is a very thought-provoking thread.

Best wishes,
Bill

Yeah, most of us make the rounds. But I don't mind buttin' heads with these guys. And actually, all their
cussing, insults, mud-slinging, ego maniacs, name-calling, and opinion bashing.
are their good points. You should see 'em when they go ballistic!

As was noted above, there is good in everybody, I know that. Maybe I'm wrong to try to fix the world and the way I'm going about it, but hey, it's a living.

dsm wrote:Interesting,

How does a forum moderate against someone publish fabrications about other members. I mean stating outright lies or inventions about another member (versus asking a question of or in regard to another member).

I am saying that this happens here.

What recourse does someone have. PM ? yes PM is a great mechanism, a way one member can ask another about something they have posted - even try to clear up any misunderstandings - what if the originating member refuses to answer PMs. Then any such fabrications remain.

Methinks someone has just started down this path right here in this thread.

So how can people who have such a dispute get it dealt with if one has the will to do so but the other clearly doesn't.

I don't have any answers - jsut a few ideas

DSM
PM's? well when it comes to you? I have learned to keep good records. That way when ever you make your claims I can simply pull up the evidence of who you truly ARE and let the folks here decide what a "saint" you really are for themselves.

I don't delete anything.

I caution those wanting to view it however the language contained may not be of your liking. So be forewarned.

dsm:Oh just PM me he says

I know its hard for you to do, but tell them the the truth, tell them I replied "kindly" with a picture of my buddy billybob dupree asking if you wanted to buy a vowel?
now didn't I?

So when I tell you I no longer read your PM's you know exactly why and that was the mild one. I let the folks decide for themselves if they would have answered your PM's any differently.

so who is telling the lies now dsm?

Snoredog,

At last you reply sadly in public & using my private email from weeks back without my permission

So you choose to publish private email without recourse to me and in classic form are using this to avoid the original point (asking you to clarify your earlier post re'spoofing').

Putting this into context (which your publishing of my private email doesn't do) ... You had just published in the formum more personal abuse and fabricated 'facts' and after PMing you for close on 6 months to try and get some dialog going I got fed up.

Snoredog - You haven't published any of my earlier PMs ? why ?, just the one where I expressed my anger at your abuse

Snoredog, for sending you an email with swearwords in it I appolgise. I let my frustration get the better of me. As for you publishing it. I'll let that deed speak for itself.

Your integrity and honor never cease to impress me

it is a message sent to me, once it is in my inbox, I don't need your permission, i can do what I want with it. Why didn't I post your other ones? because most were along the same lines as this last one was.

I already know your bait-n-switch tactics, I think you only used the foul language in that message because you thought I wouldn't have the balls to post it and expose you for what you really are.

you were wrong.

Lastly, I try very hard avoiding you and your posts at nearly all costs. I really wished this forum did have that ignore button, you would be the first one on my list.

I try and avoid any response to you in any form or fashion because I know you are just doing it to bait me. But you just keep at it, you just keep on digging, you keep digging until I finally tell you to kiss my rear end or where to stick it. Or even what you can do with it, then you try to paint the picture here like its all my fault and you are some kind of a saint.

Saint? Well I know that is not true.

SAG,

I resent him publishing private email without asking & out of context but I'm not going to spam delete it.

I just wish there was a way to communicate in a reasonable manner with him. I haven't found a way to do that. Friendly PMs didn't work (I don't intend publishing them to prove my point). The one angry PM did nothing (but belatedly get used to dodge yet another issue - fabricating accusations).

Shovelling muck under the carpet leaves an unsightly bulge in the middle of the floor & a questionable odour floating around.

But this is (as so often) going no where - I repeat what I said elsewhere that to repair a dialogue requires at least two people with a will to do it.

At the risk of getting drawn into this fray -- you guys need to each go to separate corners for a very long timeout! Or maybe you would do better in a mud wrestling pit where you can sling all the mud you want at each other without hitting the rest of us.

Linda,

Couldn't agree more - last week I suggested there be a 'rumpus room' where people with a personal dispute get sent & told they can't post again until they both state they have resolved the dispute.

I'll bet more disputes would actually get resolved & they would do so quicker that any other way.

I would take such a directive - more than willing to face such a task

But I suspect it is unenforcible.

It is so sad to see grown men in such childish playground spats. But again I say, ending any such dispute takes will on the part of both parties.

Hey, consider yourself lucky! So far in this thread I'm a judge, a jury, the executioner, an abused child, a garbage spewer, something from John_M that I still haven't the slightest idea, a jerk and a hockey player with his foot shot.

Well, you guys have certainly convinced me of the error of my ways, and I am ready to repent. As a token of good faith, I will return one of the Hostaged Posts.

First, for a little background information, this was taken out of the thread entitled, ironically

Keeping Our Wonderful Forum a Great Place to Be
So you deleted someone else's comment because you thought it was offensive, huffed and puffed about being somehow better than the rest of the posters and having some sort of something that made it OK for YOU to censor others, got your hand slapped for doing it, and now you think that returning the post is a "token of good faith?"

I don't know who to feel worse for, you or Paris Hilton.
