Interestingly, I don't see Nick Dunn ("Uncle Nicko") in the BRPT database. That's a scab that needs to be picked.

I think COVID may have "adjusted" what accreditation some may have maintained and what careers some have pursued, especially any who have gone all entrepreneur.

It may also have created situations in which one tech has had to cover for other techs now and then, perhaps causing situations in which one tech has had to accommodate more than the usual number of guests for a night.

Just guesses, those, of course. I may be wrong on all counts. I'm only here for entertainment value, whether anyone is actually entertained or not.

The BRPT database includes inactive credentials as well. For instance, I'm still there even tho I haven't sent them any money for years.

They're entrepreneurs selling a gimmick.

2 or 3 of the existing boards do an overall better job. If the Oscar guys match whatever hardware/software interfaces the SleepHQ people come up with (like the basic sleep staging devices) there'll be zero reason to spend all that money.

My thought is it should be part of my exit interview.

Valid perspective.

But in my personal opinion (nothing more than that), the newbies, lurkers, and participants often learn more when they see wrong ideas politely thwarted with logic; specifics; and impersonal, detached disagreement without it seeming to be a personal attack.

Yes, I know, that can be a bit tedious to do. But when it is done that way without distraction, the truth is often elevated further than it otherwise would be.

Letting the "enemy" live without humiliating him allows clarity in all "wars" of ideas. Seeming to silence dissenting voices (even particularly foolish ones) can appear to others as suspiciously close to loyalist group-think or vying for alpha status; whereas, a patient rebuttal can stand for all time, even when merely whispered under one's breath barely audible when before the tribunal.

You don't have to engage a troll to post a brief kernel of truth that stands in the thread forever for thinking people to recognize and reason on.

And a mild rebuke from a respected poster (of which I certainly consider you one, Palerider) can do more to prevent any mass misleading taking place than any emotional reaction that could tend to discredit the very truths being championed.

Of course, that's from the perspective of the arena of truth, which I admit is not quite the way things always work in practice in the Roman Colosseum once the gladitorial sides line up.

I may give Sleep HQ a try if Niko does break through the DS2 encryption. I could at least say I tried it and Bob's your uncle. I'm curious to what the actual GUI differences are between Sleep HQ and Oscar.

Well I wandered over to SleepHQ to play with my "free demo" of the pay version. (Mine lasts another 11 days or so.)

I filed a bug report on the way SleepHQ mis-draws a pressure curve for my DreamStation BiPAP Auto. The curve it draws has nothing to do with either the correctly drawn IPAP curve or the correctly drawn EPAP curve. Instead, the SleepHQ curve is the "mystery" curve that Oscar adds to the pressure graph that I wrote about in this thread.

While there, I also noticed that when I look at the data for the AirCurve Vauto I am currently using on loan from Pugsy, they've deleted the misleading and inaccurately drawn "Mask Pressure" curve that used to be available under the "Advanced Charts" section. I guess they decided that it would be better to just delete that data and pretend it doesn't exist rather than admit there was a serious bug in how they chose to draw that curve and then fix it.

So far, I don't see anything that's going to persuade me to spend $15/month for access to the premium features and the forums/blogs.

SleepHQ may be a bit more intuitive for brand new users, particularly those who are scared to download programs from the internet.

But there are several basic things that you can Oscar that you can't do in SleepHQ. Among them is switching the order of the graphs. Likewise, you can't override the default y-scale on a graph if you need or want to do so. I also don't like the fact that the top curve is the pressure curve (and for PR DreamStation BiPAP Auto users, that curve has no basis in reality) instead of the flow rate curve.

I also think they should have a table that displays the events as tick marks like SleepyHead, Oscar, and Encore all do. (I can't remember if ReScan has an events table or not, and I no longer have a PC to instal it on to check.)

While this second example seems to fit the bill a little better it's still a syllogism--"Stuff appears where REM should be, therefore it must be REM".

that would be an INCREDIBLE amount of REM, and all phasic at that. I believe what's happening there is that the maximum pressure is insufficient, and those are simply respiratory disturbances. If they are, then REM would be disturbed and severely limited in quantity. No way he could put together 4 hours of REM. Again, breath-by-breath analysis would help to reveal what's actually happening.
