Re: STICKY....Having trouble getting in this site

the other link worked fine.
so i just have both links in a text file and can switch handily.
sure would be nice if an administrator were to look into this.....

Sorry, zonk.
I don't think they work on the weekend.
Whatever they are up against, it must be nasty.

Re: STICKY....Having trouble getting in this site
I sent an e-mail out to the customer service agent on the main site to let them know of the exact error messages. Last night was yikes!

Re: STICKY....Having trouble getting in this site
I sent Carolyn a private email when it first happened. Included a screen shot of the error message.
Then after several days of daily reporting about the problem I called customer service at cpap.com and ask them to get Carolyn a message to read her emails as there was a problem at the forum.
I was assured that my message would be delivered. This was 3 days ago I think.
I still haven't heard anything from anyone.

Same here. Today is first day I was able to logon. I kept getting “ too many redirects” error message.

Today, when I was locked out yet again on my laptop, I clicked on the little i icon to the left of the url in my Firefox browser. That led to an invitation to clear cookies, which I did, and voila -- I was in.

Re: STICKY....Having trouble getting in this site
It’s strangely gotten better for me. I can login now on all browsers on phone and laptop. Sometimes I get kicked off but using the back key and keep going back and forth with login I eventually get back in. Weird.

Re: STICKY....Having trouble getting in this site
this whole situation is just frustrating. *I* can't get in with cleared cookies. i know that my understanding of the internet is poor, but i REALLY don't get why this misbehavior manifests itself so differently from user to user.Miss Emerita wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 5:22 pmToday, when I was locked out yet again on my laptop, I clicked on the little i icon to the left of the url in my Firefox browser. i should just mellow out and be happy that i can get in.
for now.

I don't understand how it all works--that must be why they get the "big bucks".
Maybe they need a raise . . . ?

Re: STICKY....Having trouble getting in this site
Palerider was going to post this below but for now he is totally locked out so he sent it to me in an email and I am posting it here.
It is all Greek to me. I do not know why some people have no problem, some people have random problems and some are totally screwed like PR is tonight. I guess is sometimes we hook up to a good server and sometimes we don't.
I suspect that when people do the cookie cleaning and all that...then they reconnect and get lucky to get a good server and the fix was more good luck than it was the cookie cleaning.

Here's the problem, the website is returning this to the browser:
***********************
Status 302 Found <-
VersionHTTP/2
Transferred 356 B (0 B size)
Referrer Policyno-referrer-when-downgrade
content-length 217
content-type text/html; charset=iso-8859-1
date Sun, 24 Jan 2021 03:50:41 GMT
location index.php <-
server Apache
strict-transport-security max-age=63072000
x-cdn Incapsula
X-Firefox-Spdy h2
x-iinfo 14-86645454-86645455 NNNY CT(0 0 0) RT(1611460241760 0) q(0 0 0
-1) r(0 0) U11
**********************
What that means is that they've screwed up the server, and it's sending
a '302 found' error, which is a temporary redirect, only the problem is
that it's redirecting to itself.
So what the server, or.. one of the servers, is saying "oh, instead of
going to index.php you should go to
index.php instead!"
and after 10 or 11 of those, the browser said "Nope! not playing that
game anymore!" and you get the error.
Now, the reason I say "one of the servers" is that if you hit a good one
(and there's probably multiple, for load balancing, then everything's
fine, but as soon as you hit a bad one... bam, error.
There's nothing we can do, unfortunately, someone down at their "IT
dept" (HAH!) needs to give a crap, and fix it.
I note the "incapsula" they used to use cloudflare as a front end/load
balancer/cache and they seem to have moved... and it's broken.

Re: STICKY....Having trouble getting in this site
...for those who are not in the IT world - usually, when a company wants to install an update, patch, or other backend services to their website they test it in a "test environment" first to see what might go wrong before ever applying that update, patch, or other backend services into your "live production" webservers. The "test environment" is an exact duplicate of the actual live production website. Testing is usually done days in advance, to root out any issues that a patch or update might cause.
Based upon the issues we've been having lately with this website...I'm guessing that CPAPTalk.com does not follow standard IT industry practices when it comes to "test" and "Production" environments!

I think you could be right... Got an error today for the first time error. Tried clearing cookies etc, changing sytem time and flushing windows dns to no avail. Tried different browser , same error. Tried again, got to log in screen and then got error. Tried again and it all seems to be working.

This isn't some corporate IT world with all the associated overhead, it's a small company using a 3rd. party software for a BB.
I think Pugsy explained the probable problem.

mostly greek to me as well. but for some reason, this stands out-

the randomness is what i THINK i get from this. it's luck of the draw. for some reason, the two links
http://cpaptalk.com/
http://cpaptalk.com/CPAP-Sleep-Apnea-Forum.html
seem to be semi solid. the longer link, though, will give me problems if i START with it in a fresh session. it will take me to login. once i finish that, it goes back to the familiar error.
however if i start with the shorter url, it seems to work fine. then later in the same session, the longer url works fine.
all very mysterious, as my daughter would say.
