The CPAP air must push through the upper and lower esophageal sphincters to get to the stomach. For various reasons, primarily acid reflux, these sphincters may be weak/damaged. This allows the CPAP air to pass through.

If your magic cure somehow helps heal the sphincters ... you know the rest.
If you read more carefully, you would have seen that zonker said,
from the very first night, i no longer have aerophagia.
If he has damaged sphincters, there is nothing that will heal them in one day. There is something else going on here. My guess is placebo.
Who's got time to *read* when there's snarky comments that need spouting?

if i remember your history, you may not be back for a month or so. but i'll comment on this anyway. and again, this is a serious question.

can it be a placebo effect if i didn't take it thinking it would be a "cure" for aerophagia?

and as anyone with a lick of sense could guess, nothing changed with my sleep last night, that being the first night that i've slept since stopping the Turmeric complex.

it would be silly of me to come in every day to report. so you'll either hear from me when the aerophagia returns or when the 30 days are up.

snark on, my lovelies, snark on!

While I applaud you for the willingness to go a science experiment on yourself to satisfy Granny, I'd probably have told the old biddy to bugger off and just keep taking the stuff for the reason I started in the first place.

Well, that is good news. Remember, these supplement companies aren't operated in FDA approved and monitored labs. You never know what you are getting in a supplement capsule. If your aerophagia ceased incidentally, you can save the cost and risk of using a supplement.

I would like to mention that turmeric has an anti-inflammatory effect. Therefore over the course of taking this product, you may have healed whatever was causing the aerophagia to begin with (most likely inflammation from GERD making the sphincters and whatnot less sturdy for lack of a better way to describe their malfunctioning). Therefore, unless you eat chili or chocolate right before bed every night, I don't know that taking 30 days off will prove whether or not it was the Turmeric/Black Pepper or not.

I hope it helped you. But this is not a controlled scientific experiment. There are too many factors and no control.

So just be happy that the aerophagia went away. And if it comes back, try the supplements again for a good amount of time. You may not need to be on them constantly. In fact, if you're prone to food allergies (as I am) you would not want to take it every day for months or years on end, but just as needed.

Hope that helps.

One more thing…

For what it's worth, I don't know that this could be considered a placebo effect.

Did you expect it to help with aerophagia when you began taking it. It sounded to me like it surprised you.

If not, what was the reason that made you decide to try the supplement?

not sure if this will take you right to the conversation or not. let's see-

viewtopic/t178363/Breathing-disturbance ... l?start=15

oh it does. how cool! in the thread, scroll down to where user nicholasjh1 states that this complex helped him to "sleep deeper". as a semi shallow sleeper myself, this is what i was interested in.

so was surprised that the aerophagia went away.

p.s. this did nothing for my semi shallow sleep.

oh for sure. if i can attribute it to the supplement, however, i'd like to recommend it to others. but if it isn't the supplements and the aerophagia just went away, i'll be happy with that, believe me!
