So, since you just reported back with your 30 day trial, I figured I'd add in my observations.
i'm pleased to see that it seems to be working for you! always happy to help out a fellow hose head.

i didn't have any aerophagia last night. also didn't get up in the night to pee. i'm usually up once per night, not because of any pressing need but merely because i'm awake and think i should.

i also hit ahi of 0.0. this makes the fifth time in my journey that has happened. so once per year it seems.

i'm not making any connection between any of these things nor to aerophagia or tumeric. i'm just saying that my sleep adventures continue.

still going to put off the tumeric for a bit and see if my heartburn continues.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

For what it’s worth, I did have aerophagia last night, but no residual heartburn so far. I’m hoping the turmeric helps with the discomfort part of aerophagia, and might work on an as-needed basis. I probably get aerophagia differently to you (I get the girl-aerophagia, you get the boy-aerophagia 😁). No evidence-base for any of this of course, from what I can see the main research is focused on IBS, but even if it’s a temporary placebo effect, I’ll take it. Gotta do something with my time while I’m stuck at home!

i suppose. when i get aerophagia, it's a stomach swelling torment with no relief. i can (and do) get the version where my stomach tightens but, well, you know...relief.

i imagine mine is blue whereas yours is pink.

The CPAP air must push through the upper and lower esophageal sphincters to get to the stomach. For various reasons, primarily acid reflux, these sphincters may be weak/damaged. This allows the CPAP air to pass through.

If your magic cure somehow helps heal the sphincters ... you know the rest.
If you read more carefully, you would have seen that zonker said,
from the very first night, i no longer have aerophagia.
If he has damaged sphincters, there is nothing that will heal them in one day. There is something else going on here. My guess is placebo.
if i remember your history, you may not be back for a month or so. but i'll comment on this anyway. and again, this is a serious question.

can it be a placebo effect if i didn't take it thinking it would be a "cure" for aerophagia?
Zonker, I'm back! Any conclusions on the magic supplement?

See you in another month or so. (If my employer goes bankrupt, I might be here everyday.)

you know, not really. it's not a cure but it is another tool in my drawer of tools to help my cpap journey.

(how's that for a bunch of weasel words?)

i'm back to taking it, but cutting the dosage in half. that blood thinner side effect concerns me. and it stops me from recommending this to others.

since i've gone back to it with the decreased dosage, my heartburn and just my gasiness in general has gone back down. if i can just cruise along with that, i think i'm better off.

i STILL don't have any return of aerophagia. whether that's placebo or not, i'm uncertain.

but until someone shows me proof that i'm harming myself(outside of maybe spending money foolishly on something that's not proven effective), i'ma gonna carry on with it.

I thought I'd report in on my experience with my technique in combatting aerophagia.

Recap: I was on cpap from 2007 to 2010 and had aerophagia then, only when sleeping on my right side.

In recent years, while not on cpap, I began to have aerophagia when sleeping on my right side.

I read something about the angle of the neck having something to do with it. I had the habit of sleeping with my chin tucked. I made a conscious effort to sleep with my neck straight or even slightly tilted back while on my left side. I have not had aerophagia since.

I know some people use neck braces to keep themselves in that position. I've not had to do that.

Hope this helps someone else out there!

thanks for that. hope it helps someone, but it doesn't work for me.

but it DOES bring up a situation that has developed for me over the last six months. maybe someone else has had this happen and found a way to prevent it.

not every night, but maybe once or twice a week, i get some strange "gas bubbles". or at least, that's how i describe it. it only hapeens when laying on my side.

very tiny gas bubbles will form in my neck. the odd thing is, it doesn't seem to be originating in my tummy. they just seem to suddenly appear!

it's easy to get rid of, i just swallow some air and belch them out. but then it just happens again. then again and so on, until the cycle is finished.

this happens after i've been asleep then wake up in the middle of the night. never happens when i first lay down to sleep.

as my step daughter would say, it's all very mysterious!

I am glad that my gall bladder was taken care of before I started cpap.
A bad gall bladder can too easily be mistaken for "gas"/aerophagia.
