NEWBIE HERE TOO!

Post by Gryhnd » Tue Jul 16, 2019 4:03 pm

Am glad I found this forum! It has answered many of my questions. My biggest concern now is the leak rate. I have read all the info here & called my DME today to try a different mask. Currently using P10 nasal pillows. Last night my leak rate was 40L. Sunday night it was14L. Both nights events were both 0.2/hr. I am a side sleeper and not a mouth breather. My pressures are 8/10.2 (I changed it from 11.0 to 10.0, and slowly working my way back up. I have installed OSCAR, but DEM gave me the protective sleeve, but no SD! They are sending one, should get it Thursday. I'm going to try using the Resmed AirFit P0i nasal pillow as am clausterphobic (sp?) and a full face mask would drive me crazy.

Hi Gryhnd ~~~

Zonker should be along soon to open the cage door and tell you how to add your machine and mask to the bottom of your posts. (Folks here like to just see that and not have to ask you all the time.)

...and no doubt one of the smart people will be able to ask you a few diagnostic questions.

Have you figured out from reading what OSCAR is yet?

I found this "Welcome cpap grayhound" but just realized you *could?* be grayHAND?

I'm hoping for hound. Not sure what a gray hand might mean? Low oxygen?

Began XPAP May 2016. Autoset Pressure min. 8 / max 15. Ramp off. ERP set at 2. No humidity. Sleepyhead software installed and being looked at daily, though only beginning to understand the data.

Without knowing what kind of machine you have... (READ the "READ THIS FIRST" page and fill in your equipment profile), we can't even guess whether your leak rate of 40lpm is excessive, or ok. depends on the machine.

Ok, I could *guess* based on the 10.2 pressure that you're on a Resmed machine... in which case your mask is leaking too much at 40lpm, and fine at 14.

Welcome and totally off topic, but we have adopted a lab/greyhound mix. We've always had lab mixes but never a greyhound and we are finding him VERY challenging. I shall have to PM you with questions about greyhounds, we are clueless.

You do have the wrong humidifier, the one you have listed is from a wholly different manufacturer, just leave that field blank.
