So I just go turn airplane mode on ? hehehe. Heading to my machine now.
I figured you would hop on that like a bug on poop.

 yep, the older I get the more cranky I get with things like this. My daughter and her significant other are big Alexa fans and they want to put the smart lights and other stuff in our house for us. I am not exactly thrilled with this idea. I can see this happening. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YvT_gqs5ETk

Anyone choosing to put a machine in airplane mode should be sure there are no repercussions with docs/DMEs/payers before they do so. Especially if initial compliance is being verified.

My understanding is that the MyAir app is for patients to see the data collected by ResMed. I believe the pros have their own subscription-based service for official access.

I allow the data to be collected by ResMed over the network so that I as the user can have a convenient place for the trends to be stored so I can effortlessly trend AHI and mask-on hours at a glance. I ignore the other stuff. I bought my machine direct, so no doc or DME has any way to collect/see any info on me at the ResMed cloud.

The only personal identifier (along with the machine identifiers) that I gave ResMed in signing up for MyAir was my email address. I used an alias for the name. I believe that a few people at ResMed have long known who I am, and I figured that since they had not up to this point done anything directly all that nefarious to me yet, despite ample opportunity, maybe I could trust them with my email address, alias, and usage info too now.

I did, however, have to remove my homemade aluminum-foil protective shield from around my machine in order for the cell signal to work. Hopefully the interplanetary aliens who used to harrass me won't notice that I have exposed myself to their communications again.

Dang. Oh well. Anybody wanna buy a hat? PayPal accepted.

I think Swervedriver's take on this whole MyAir question sums it up nicely, as far as the lonely crowd fading in the air:

"In space, no one can hear you cry / you have to send the links to your dreams / so choose your weapons wisely."

Hmm good point. I got my machine Oct 2018....but I am still renting via insurance till Oct 2019. I am passed my 90 days. Does anyone check longer than that ?

I might be interested in one of those hats you are offering. If you can provide proof that they will protect me from evil DME's.

Unlikely.
You can call up your insurance and ask them to be sure if it bothers you.

BUT....even if they are still watching....there's nothing stopping them from getting any usage data the old fashioned way...the SD card.
Everyone is lazy and wanting to avoid the extra work using the SD card...but that option is still there.

I would just turn on airplane mode and wait until someone bitches about it....if they even notice. Then decide what to do about it.

Past 90 days I think that it is usually just the doc's feelings that matter if the doc tries to monitor.

Hmmm. I don't know. Let me sign in to MyAir real quick just to be sure.

Thanks all for those pieces of info.

My AHI with my old machine was anywhere from 11-14 AHI - so being at about 5 is a good step.

I am thinking ResMed wants me to think the machine is doing really well, but it is actually a disservice to everyone.
I am going to turn on Airplane mode after my first visit to the Doc after getting this machine - for compliance reasons.

What info should I post to get the answer from the real experts - you guys that are doing it every night? is it just the sleepy head graphs, or should I include other data also (ie at a specific time when AHI events are high)

I am posting SleepyHead CPAP stats and hope the code sets a fixed font, if not I will put into an excel spreadsheet

Code: Select all

See this thread for the format of what we like to see
viewtopic/t158560/How-to-post-images-for-review.html

You need more pressure and the AHI will drop even more. How much more pressure...dunno...can't see what you are using.
If you post a typical detailed report as outlined above then we can do more than guess.

It's a good step, but not a good place.

I like to point out that an AHI of 5 is like having someone sit by your bed and poke you with a sharp stick every 12 minutes (on average)... all night long.

That's not sleep you can function well with.

I'm no good at reading squiggly lines, myself. But it seems to me that "Fixed 11" ain't fixin' much. May need more pressure sent up from the engine room, if you have the dilithium crystals to do that.

In other words, a doc might want to have you try 12 cm H20, since there are so many obstructive events happening at 11 cm. Many of us here choose our own pressures, with our doc's approval, or without, depending.
