Qualify? Got the T-shirt of it?

Liam1965 wrote:True, but what about the biggie: Joining a CPAP cruise when I don't use CPAP.

I learned that lesson the hard way after trying to qualify for the special olympics and finding out that a lack of social skills doesn't qualify.

Liam, who is honestly considering it, just not thinking it very likely.
Liam, I simply must comment:

Rested Gal informed all of us that you had tried, and tried, and tried to use CPAP. IMHO, you should qualify more than the spouses because you tried so many options for so long. I would say that HAS to qualify you, as if we are seeking a high level of qualification.

I'd venture to guess that ANYONE who has even had a sleep study, knows someone who has had a sleep study, has EVER even tried on a headgear, or has accidentally found this forum and ended up staying would be welcome. Hey, I assume we would be taking spouses or significant others and other related folk and they may just be hosehead wannabes.

I've gone on 3 cruises, and all 3 went with a group of ~10 friends. We always worked out an outfit, and had our photos taken by the ship photographer. A definite possibility would be photos of all wearing their masks/interfaces.

My concern with a T-shirt: fit. Women's shirts are OK but often do not come in large enough sizes. Men's shirts look awful on fat women. Let's remember that we are often obese when apnoeic!

Maybe buttons or something else would be more practical? Aprons? Pinnies (like team vests for sports)?

GOT IT: MATCHING EARRINGS!

I could tell you I have some deep dark secrets about the sysadmins.

I could tell you I've got Johnny's offspring duct-taped to the wall in my basement.

I could tell you that I have mystical powers over time, space and the internets.

But the truth is a bit more mundane: When they were first linking keywords, they had a thread in which they asked people for suggestions as to what keywords should auto-link, and I jokingly suggested that any time anyone mentioned me, it should link to my blog, and they did it.

Which is a wonderful ego boost, but largely just means I was in the right place, at the right time, and made the right wiseass joke to the right person.

Now excuse me while I go feed the pris... er, capti... er, my guest.

It's refreshing to see Liam's wise guy signatures again. I've sure missed those "Liam, <wise guy comment>" endings to his posts. I look for them. I eagerly await them. Here's hoping the cb goes on the cruise to amuse everyone.

Busman's Holiday?

Post by birdshell » Tue Sep 19, 2006 8:16 am

Good idea, Lindab, but maybe Liam would prefer to just enjoy the time...or maybe he enjoys thinking up tag line sign-offs! Or maybe...he would just like to come to play little tricks on all of us...Yeah, that's the ticket.

I believe Liam could have a lucrative career coming up with David Letterman's introduction lines. It seems that they have resorted to using repeats, of late. For example, I've certainly heard, "From NY, the greatest city in the world," several times.

Now, if it truly is the greatest city in the world, why does Dave live in CT?

They used to use a different intro line each show, i.e. "Now, the man voted comic of the year by the NY streetsweepers league, David Letterman!" (apologies to the Letterman writers) I always wondered if that wasn't too ambitious; spending time thinking up those tag lines would take most of the day and then the other jokes would come in.

Liam, you could do that for them and just e-mail it in. I would say a contract for those would just about pay for a cruise; it might even include the family...We would definitely want to meet the family, especially your wife. It would be very instructive if she would give advice to the rest of the spouses.

Cruise

Post by felineperson3 » Tue Sep 19, 2006 8:32 am

I love cruises--they are definitely the way to enjoy a vacation. So far our Alaskan cruise has been our favorite. The others have always included different ports throughout the Carribbean. I am watching this post with interest to find out the--- When, Where, and How Much? We just celebrated our 49th anniversary in August this year and are hoping to put something together next year that will include Hawaii for our big 50!

I love the interest! But don't watch and wait, email me for a survey as to what you WANT us to do so I know what to put together. There are a million choices out there and I want to take what the majority wants and put together three choices to vote on.

Thanks,

Earl

Survey

Post by birdshell » Tue Sep 19, 2006 4:54 pm

Rock and roll Earl,

Why not post the survey questions here? It might get a bit more participation....unless you feel it would be a conflict with CPAP.com.

Maybe if you asked Johnny, he would not mind. Just my thoughts on the subject, which may not be appropriate--but might be worth a try.

BTW, after the hosehead cruise your forum name may have a whole new connotation. Maybe we should avoid hurricane season in the Gulf and East coast areas?

I thought of it but I do feel it would be a conflict and I have sent a note to the adm and have not heard from them. But I also only want surveys from those that are interested in going and not just as a poll to all. To email me and send the survery back requires just a little bit of effort and it is only fair that those who do the survey are among those that will participate.

Perfectly understandable, I was thinking of the logistics. We DO want to be fair to our host!

Of course, I assume our host and employees are probably welcome to come--but maybe that would be a busman's holiday, too. They might have to wear paper bags over their heads to be incognito.
