PROPOSAL FOR ALL SEASONED MEMBERS:
Good afternoon all- in light of this week's most discussed topic so far, I propose we members move to make a decision on how to handle poor postings in the future, in an attempt to avoid alienating and/ or losing more members.
Janknitz had a good idea of sending 'crickets' to a member via a PM if you felt their response to someone was out of line or too snarky or rude.
For those members not comfortable with private messaging another, my idea is to post a pic/ icon of a cartoon cricket to the member's disturbing reply. Maybe someone can find a funny/ applicable pic that we can all use, or we can ask Johnny G.to allow us to use one like the SPAM & Twitter buttons. We would all agree that if we overuse this button, we would lose our individual usage of it.
So- two questions for my fellow forum members:
1. Do you agree to the use of 'crickets' as a means to signal a member that they may be offending to someone else? YES or NO
2. Are you a forum member that wants to work with other members to find solutions to keep cpaptalk.com functioning without conflict? YES or NO
Thank you for your prompt response!

Absolutely yes to #2, and will leave it here for now.
Re: PROPOSAL FOR ALL SEASONED MEMBERS:
I must have very poor perception skills. I have been a member here for a number of years and have only seen a few instances of one attacking another.
My reaction has generally been to ignore the thread. I thought that was what crickets were all about.
On rare occasions I will comment on the side of a long time member being attacked.
I think if we all focus on helping those who we can and avoiding the threads where bickering is taking place, this forum will settle back to the site that has helped me so much.
Special thanks to Pugsy who has been unbelievable in her support.

Johnny started this board in 2004...it has been running just fine since then. This is just a hiccup. Let everything stay the way it is.

Yes, people come, people go, but the forum rolls on. As far as I can tell, this latest "discussion" is just part of the natural order here. One can do a search for "moderator" and find numerous past examples.LSAT wrote:Johnny started this board in 2004...it has been running just fine since then. This is just a hiccup. Here's just a couple from 2005.

That's a YES on 2.
On 1... I agree to pming the member if they are attacked, but don't think it will do a bit of good to pm the offender.
Also thinking I (others?) may not be clear on the term, "crickets" as it has been talked about here.

Re: PROPOSAL FOR ALL SEASONED MEMBERS:
1. Do you agree to the use of 'crickets' as a means to signal a member that they may be offending to someone else? YES or NO. doubt that this will do anything as the big offenders will not respond well to this
2. Are you a forum member that wants to work with other members to find solutions to keep cpaptalk.com functioning without conflict? YES or NO. yes this is great, but again the offenders don't consider this real conflict any way and have no problem the way it is if everyone else would just back off. They have said it many times "then some newbee comes in and wants to "fix" everything when nothing is wrong to begin with"
We can get them to agree to stop, delete their posts and incur their wrath, or figure out how to ban them and make it stick even if they create a new account and then really rip up the place. The first one is the only real option and I doubt they are interested in hearing anything form anyone about it.
The truly sad thing is that while we sort this all out, first timers are still going to be jumped on and leave without getting the help they came here for

Thicker skin, is usually the best when seeking help in the interweb.
Trolls be trolls. No way to control, ban, or keep them away. They THRIVE on strife.
AS most everyone has stated. We know there is a SMALL issue, lets just let it burn out.
(no trolls are intentionally being slighted, troll name is generic and not to be misconstrued with the OP's profile picture, all trolls are lovable hug - able toys. LOL)

Re: PROPOSAL FOR ALL SEASONED MEMBERS:
I do not consider myself a seasoned forum member but would be glad to work with other members to find solutions to keep cpaptalk.com functioning without conflict. Sleep apnea is such a terrible malady and I wonder what is that inner driver for other forum members to attack others instead of being there to seek and help other sufferers?

Re: PROPOSAL FOR ALL SEASONED MEMBERS:

Okay, this is my contribution to the send the offender a nice cricket. I actually looked through Pakistani and Hindi Cricket internet comedy, but felt it was too violent (cricket bat humor) and maybe not for this audience, mostly because I didn't know what was offensive in Hindi anyway. So I put together the above plain cricket reminder that we all want the same thing, sleep.
Also - MY AHI WAS 0.89 LAST NIGHT!!! and I'm tooting my own cpap about it.
