Re: Noob to CPAP and Group. AHI in the 50's...
I think I am just going to look for one setting till my sleep study and stay with it - no clue what it should be I guess something mid range with max being the cap and let the machine decide as i looks like I tend to go up on the higher end and need to stay there i think.
Wish this appt with the sleep study as well as the New Sleep Dr was sooner then it is!!!
But as i've been told this hasn't happened over night, I so understand that the centrals cannot be lowered much without the proper machine and with the Sleep Study being a Split Study with ASV if Centrals are present - I am hoping that during the test, proper levels can be determinded but if not I guess I could go again or maybe can get the Sleep Dr to figure out a baseline and let the machine ? see whats best and the reports from it?
Till then, I think this thread has lost its fire
Thanks for everyone who has looked thru my dump truck of events etc, and I cannot thank Pugsy Enough, Man i'd be lost and not know what way was up if it was not for her and her guidance and ideas etc. Lord knows I am sure i'll have quite a few questions once the dust settles after this sleep study/dr appt a month following and if I do indeed get prescribed an ASV Machine etc. I cant image having no centrals or obstructives during the Nov. 14th sleep study
Now to just figure out this ResScan Program and what reports I should bring the Doc.....
I'll be around here on the forum daily to read up on things and lend advice etc were I can.
Thanks For Making This Forum, And thanks for having me

Did I give you the link for the video tutorial on using ResScan?
If I didn't...here it is
http://montfordhouse.com/cpap/resscan_tutorial/ Tutorial
While it is for an older version the basics haven't ever changed in terms of how to manage the reports, do the downloads, etc.

Well with 8-18 as my pressure, ive lowered my ahi some, my centrals seemed to have come down but my obstructive increased lol oh well.
Ill never get that magical -5 ahi or .0x lol at this rate with this machine
I have the pulse ox getting shipped out today, will get that and be able to see my oxygyn etc thru the night, I'll have to look at Pugsys Pointers for how to sync that with sleepy head.

Well only slept 4 hours, going to have to nap again before work later for sure.
Lowest my AHI has ever been - and only had 44 clear airway events and 32 obstructives
This sleep study cant come fast enough, I think I might be needing something diff as far as machine goes
First night with my Pulse Ox.

Is this normal for what I am going thru with centrals etc? I mean I sleep I guess but guess its not really sound sleep? if that makes cents
I hope something changes with a diff machine or something ugg

Yeah...unfortunately it's pretty much normal no matter which type of apnea events a person might be having.
You just have the misfortune of having both types so you get a double whammy.

Re: Noob to CPAP and Group. AHI in the 50's...
Yep...a different machine will greatly reduce the apnea events (both kinds in your situation) and thus improve the chances of your getting more solid blocks of sleep and better sleep without the apnea events messing with your body.
The different machine may take some getting used to (seems to vary with the person) but once the body/brain is used to the way the machine does its job then things usually improve dramatically.

Thanks as always! Nov 14th cant come fast enough, was hoping there would be a cancel before then. Then the wait for Dr to review etc and such in Dec so I guess I am still 60days out Might see bout seeing a diff person in her office or I'd almost say my old dr but I dread that as well look how long i've been going along with the ole doc - I've learned more thru you and this forum then I did the past 3 years of old doc. Like I said in other post's I was going to just hang up the hose till I found this forum and posted on it.

Well its like 19 days till my Split Sleep Study. Got the AHI Down to the 40's vs 50's. Pretty much no changes or therapeutic value with my normal Cpap Machine, but something tells me to keep wearing it. Hope this all get squared away soon! I need real rested sleep.

Re: Noob to CPAP and Group. AHI in the 50's...
The centrals don't seem to be causing major desats which was a significant worry for me.
I don't know if the Obstructive Sleep Apnea events that are now prevented would cause significant desats or not if we let them happen by not using the machine.
I am assuming that they (the OAs) were significant from your sleep study way back when you had it and maybe significant desats then and that's why the initial diagnosis was made.
So yes...I think continuing with the machine at this time so that at least the OSA is dealt with seems a logical step.
Fix what we can fix with what we have because not having the OSA stuff dealt with could potentially be worse than what we are seeing now.
We know we can do anything about the centrals but we can still address the obstructive apnea stuff.

I forget what the ResMed version of Encore is, but it might be useful to have the exact data that your doctor is going to see so you can be prepared for the discussion.
