SleepyHead 0.8.8 "Almost Beta" Release

Post by jedimark » Sat Dec 03, 2011 2:21 pm

I have a new build of SleepyHead to share with you.. I started a new thread 'cos the old one was getting full.

This one is a milestone, an "almost beta", in that it's getting close to feature complete (meaning I can start to concentrate on bugs, documentation and the "finishing off" stuff)

You can get it from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/sleepyhead/files/
Only a full zip package this time, as the DLL's have been upgraded.. Unzip, find SleepyHead.exe and run.

There has been a huge amount of improvements and changes from last time.. You will very likely need to remove your SleepApp folder (in "My Documents") this time, as there has been some necessary database format changes too..

The following information is lifted from the release notes..

Oximetry Special
  • Complete rewrite of Oximetery Tab, it's now (hopefully) working much better.
  • If you start the oximeters record mode and switch on CPAP at exactly the same time, you can now get reasonable sync without needing the USB cable, provided you import your CPAP data before oximetry.
  • Oximetry PulseChange & SPO2Drop event flagging.. (Options in Preferences)
  • A re-indexing feature to re-apply different flagging rules without messing up imported oximetry data.
  • Clock problems with Live serial CMS50 recording fixed.
Note: Nothing has been done to the SpO2Review importer module. Not even sure if it still works..
If it does work, the reindexer will apply flags to it.

What else's New?
  • DeVilbiss Intellipap Support.. not perfect yet, but needs testing..
  • New Graph tab in Preferences for changing individual graph settings, visibility, etc.
  • Graph settings are now persistant.. It will remember sizes and graph orders for you.
  • Session Usage Chart in overview is finally back.
  • Rewritten Print Support. Can now print reports in Daily View, Overview and Oximetry. You can hide graphs you don't want to print.
  • New Respiratory Rate, Tidal Volume and Minute Ventilation graphs for PRS1 users, extracted from the flow waveform.
  • Bookmark feature for daily view, each day has it's own set of (rename-able) bookmarks.
  • Weight, BMI calcs, and Zombie-Meter added to Daily View's Notes tab.. Plus related Overview Graphs.
  • Daily View's Details panel has a few useful tooltips (showing description & units) and some clickable links.
  • Import now offers to remember your locations.. There is a preferences area to edit this list.
  • Can now change how much data is shown around events selected in the Event List, by dragging the slider underneath.
  • Preference option to Skip Login Window
  • Change User (logout) option in the File menu
  • Quite a few other little bugfixes I've forgotten about.
Snip.. You can read the rest of the release notes when it first runs..

Remember to fill your profile out so the reports can look prettier.. Your height is needed for the BMI calculations to show up.

Let me know if anything's not right..

Have fun..

/Mark Watkins

Thanks Mark.
Sleepyhead actually works in my Windows XP X64 machine.
Rescan did not I had to setup a 32 bit dual boot to run it.

Keep up the good work.

I can't get the import to function, it tells me "couldn't find any machine data...." If I go back to the old version it works fine. If I launch the new version it tells that it needs to purge the old data, it does but won't let me load any new data.

I'm getting better day by day. Few if any OA Events, mostly CAs and Hyponeas.

Up and running with 0.8.8 version.

I removed all traces of previous version along with the SleepyHead App folder in MyDocuments prior to install of 0.8.8. First attempt to import data gave me a run time error failure at 99%. Repeat Import attempt was successful without any further issues.

For those newbies trying this...when importing you only navigate to the drive that the SD card is in. If you try to do the P Series folder you have gone too far. If you go too far you will likely get "can't find data" message.

Now to figure out what to do with all the extra data.

Edit to add image of what you see when you import and navigate to the SD card.
My SD card drive is E drive.... so all you need is the drive letter like this image and then click "choose"

I figured it out with Pugsy's help. I keep a copy of the SD files in the MY DOCUMENTS folder, I needed to point only to MY DOCUMENTS. I also noticed that events that were classified as Cheyne-Stokes are not appearing that way anymore.

I was only getting the newly derived respiratory rate, tidal volume and minute ventilation data for some, not all, of my sessions when I used the supplied "blow away my data please" dialog followed by a re-import from a backup from 2011-11-30. Most of the sessions from then have those values as 0. After manually removing all the data and preferences, I got the data and pie charts for all the sessions. I'm using my Qt 4.7, OS X 10.6 build of 0d484d78e724f8e4ca13bbf66524248bd74e30dc.

Up and running for the most part. But that odd ball video card in my Eee PC seems to be causing some problems again. I'll file a proper bug report over at sourceforge.net later on when I figure out more about what to say.

I do have a couple of general questions (not bug reports) about the new graphs that I cannot find the answers to in the documentation .

1) What are the units on the minute ventilation and tidal volume graphs on both the daily and overview graphs?

2) What are the units on the Weight and BMI graphs on the overview graphs? It appears that the weight graph is in Kg. Is there a way to convert it to pounds?

3) While I can successfully change the vertical range on many of the graphs, I can't seem to change the vertical range on the flow rate graph. Is that intentional or is it a bug? Since my flow rate stays between -80 and 80, there's a lot of "wasted" territory on the y-axis of this graph and I'd love to have the flexibility to change that range down to +/- 90.

Hi, thanks for the link for the SleepyHead software. I have never used any sleep software before. I have some software downloaded on my computer for my ResMed but I needed the card reader for it. So can you tell me what I need to connect my ResMed machine to your software! Thanks SO Much. I really appreciate all of your help!

Linux
Kubuntu 11.10 64-bit

Also need to: sudo apt get install build-essential in order to have the g++ libs and stuff necessary to build from source

IntelliPap Auto with Smartflex

Was able to read the SD card after figuring out that the dropdown in the dialog box doesn't show me my USB-connected SD card reader. I had to go down to where you select directory. Once read, it pulled in information from the card.

I've got 960 days on this machine so the Overview is pretty tight with data. Printing it would be less than useful as the graphs are too tight to be readable. It will be better when you can print the daily stats/graphs.

I could not find Smartflex data if it's in there anywhere.

Unfortunately SleepyHead will not work with the S8 machines (that pesky card reader thing again). Same thing for the M Series and older Respironics machines since they require card readers for their smart cards too.

SleepyHead will only work with SD cards at this time. Pulling data of the smart cards is not nearly as easy as the SD cards.

8.8 works as advertised. The secret is to follow the directions but then that means you have to First read the directions.

Thanks Jedimark for all you have done.

It's really only Periodic Breathing.. Cheyne Stokes is another one of those things you need a respiratory effort belt for.

I get it reported an awful lot.. Three days in a row this past week I've had 19.93, 17.31 and 27.67% in PB. Last night was only 3.11%.
My doctors keep telling me if it was Cheynes Stokes, I'd be dead by now..

Numbers only mean something to a doc if they did not come from the patient, even if you used the same software as them.. (well, all the docs I've met tell me this at least.)
I'm sure if they recorded my stats in a SleepLab they'd think differently, but I doubt they will ever have me booked in for a PSG when I have a real bad night..

Now I'm doing a bit of flow waveform processing, I'll see about adding detection for it one day for ResMed users..
