DreamFit?

Post by Sleepless on LI » Thu May 11, 2006 7:19 pm

Does anyone have any feedback regarding the Dreamfit nasal mask? I am having a really hard time finding a nasal mask I can use. They either always hurts the area between my nose and upper lip, more forehead, the straps are uncomfortable, they leak by my eyes or by the sides of my nose (or both) or are just uncomfortable to wear. I don't know if they make one I will ever say I like and can use, but I am looking into this. Seems to get them NOT to leak, I have to overtighten them, which I know you're not supposed to do but I have no choice to avoid leaks. I've tried them all loosely first.

So far, I've had the Activa, Somnoplus, ComfortGel, FlexiFit407 and tried the simple cushion with the Comfort Lite 2. Now I'm looking at this. To say my hopes are dim is pretty accurate, but I'll take any feedback from anyone who's used this mask. Thanks.

Here are some links compiled by rested gal from users of the DreamFit mask:
rested gal wrote:Clickable links to topics about the Puritan Bennett Breeze nasal pillows/nasal mask. As with any mask, some like it, some don't. Some modify it to suit them.

Breeze nasal pillows
Breeze Dreamseal (nasal mask - uses same headgear as the nasal pillows.)

Breeze Dreamfit (nasal mask with bellows cushion - uses different headgear.)

Guest, thanks but it's not the Breeze mask. That's the Dreamseal. I'm talking about the DreamFit. The links you posted seem to all lead back to the Breeze.

Tried to edit my last post but it wouldn't let me.

Although Guest prefaced the links with a comment by Rested Gal talking about the BREEZE DreamFit, the posts were NOT about the Breeze, but the Dreamfit mask...PB's version of the nasal mask which goes on the Breeze is actually called DreamSeal, not DreamFit.

Those links, by the way, are all one person's opinion, TXKajun. Thank you for posting them.

I'm not sure what your looking at. They are all links to the DreamFit, not the DreamSeal.

I got thrown off by RG's referral to it as the Breeze (in bold in your post) DreamFit. It is not called the "Breeze DreamFit," but rather just DreamFit by Puritan Bennett. Breeze's nasal attachment is the DreamSeal.

I did look at the links, thank you. Like I said, they are all one person's opinion, but thanks for posting them. I appreciate the leg work.

Can I not thank you for providing them to me? Unless you're Rested Gal being guested, I thank you for responding to my thread.

Hi Lori,

I wish I could say that I had luck with the Dreamfit... but I didn't. I had a very difficult time with getting a good seal and I did try hard to loose tighten etc. the straps.

Take Care!

Teri!!! Long time no see (or speak to, rather). How are you? Hope you are doing well.

Thanks for the feedback. I am getting the strong feeling that this won't work, either. I guess I'm not meant to wear a nasal mask. Just wish I could find ONE mask to trade off to occasionally. I must have one weirdly shaped face/nose.

Hi there. This isn't really a response to your question, but I have no experience with te Dreamfit. But I noticed you said you've tried the simple cushion for the CL2. Did you try the nasal pillows?

I have the CL2 (it's my only mask, been on APAP for almost 6 weeks). I tried the simple cushion for a couple nights and had crazy leakage. But with the pillows I have very few leaks, even with rolling aorund a lot and sleeping mostly on my stomach and somtimes my side. I think it's a very comfortable mask. If you have only tried the CL2 with simple cushion, I would really recommend trying the nasal pillows before you give up on this one!

Just my 2 cents!

Hi Lori,
We are doing very well... now that the rain has stopped! We have had 80 degree weather for the last week... ahhhhhhh.

I was using Swift for a while but, it is soooooo noisy that I switched back to my flexifit 407. That seems to work very well for me and is very quiet.

I also just got a new "snore guard" from my dentist. It doesn't seem to make a big difference in any of my numbers, but atleast I am not grinding my teeth anymore. I am actually thinking about taking it back to the dentist and having him take off the extra piece that pulls my jaw forward. But I will give it a little longer before I go back to see him.

Hope you are doing well!
Teri

I agree with tx. The CL2 is a very nice unit to experiment with. I 'puff up'
a bit too much with the pillows. However, with the simple cushion I sleep
all night.
I have modified my simple cushion attachment by adding the straps from
an old Adam Circuit unit. This pulls the simple cushion in for a better seal.
Furthermore, since the straps are removable and part of the simple cushion
attachment, I have 3 different set-ups.

1) Simple Cushion without straps for the times when I can get it just right.
2) Simple Cushion with straps for the nights when I can't control the leaks.
3) Pillows for those nights when I have control over my mouth.

txtornado,

I don't know if I've just clean run out of patience with mask due to bad luck trying to get them to work or I can tell rather quickly that they won't, but I had absolutely no luck with the CL2, pillows or simple cushion. I couldn't get the pillows to seal very well at all, even without laying down to go to sleep and rolling around. Honestly? I think I just slip in under the radar of people who can actually use nasal pillows. I have longer nares than they are found and they don't always work well. I have been very fortunate with the Aura/Headrest, at least. And believe me that I'm grateful to have at least one mask I can use.

Teri,

I have the FlexiFit 407 and it's not bad, but it, too, is not leak free for me. Maybe I'll try experimenting with a pantyhose leg. But it seems when I use that, I have to press the mask so tight to my face that it's akin to over tightening straps and it becomes uncomfortable. I think it may be just my Aura and me for good. Just wish I could ONE other alternative...
