I agree with DoriC. If you have a defective machine, the DME should replace it - especially if it's new. I guess I'm curious why you aren't talking to the DME. I'm curious why you trash the design. The same design concept was used for connecting the S8 to its humidifier, even if it isn't the same form factor. It uses a nearly-identical flow generator. The main changes are in the form-factor and the firmware. S8's are no longer available. If you hate the S9 that much, why not get your DME to switch it out for a Respironics System One?DoriC wrote:Where did you purchase it? Can it be replaced? This may have been a one-time occurrence and may not ever happen again. Darn, I think it deserves another chance, don't you?

Re: My Resmed S9 sucks
I too agree with all others who have said, to send it to ResMed through cpap.com for a replacement. I used the S9 for a year without ever having that problem. While I do not agree with ResMed policies, I do think they make a solid machine, overall. There's always hiccups here and there.
You've complained bitterly of your doctors, the health insurance system, and now your machine.........how about refocusing on what you like in life? Are there some positives for you? Share the good stuff too, instead of just dumping.

This reminds me so much of a previous post, I thought I'd requote here:
DreamDiver wrote:If you persist in believing the S8 you had was more perfect than all other machines, by all means, buy another S8. Or swap with someone else on the forum who has a relatively new, functional S8 that craves the S9. ... snip ... Here's what I'm betting you're going to find: It's not anything like your old S8. You might even hate it because the pressure settings might not be exactly to your old machine's standard. ... yearning for the 'good old days' will not bring them back. HAHAHAHA!!!! The S9 series APAP is not even close to the S8 APAP design. To start with, the S8 fit together back to back and it was a very tight fit. You had to press a metal release on the bottom of the machine to get the humidifier to come apart from the PAP. Also, the S9, the plastic used is less durable feeling.
The S9 serious APAP, they fit together SIDEWAYS and that is why its coming apart. I sleep for several years on the S8 and then get switched to the S9 and its like apples and oranges.

Re: My Resmed S9 sucks
I have an s9, and it stays together just dandy. You have to hear the click when you stick it together to be sure it IS stuck together, lol. I travel quite a bit, and even after all the tear downs, it works fine.

The s9 has a 2 year warranty. Have your DME replace it.

Re: My Resmed S9 is awesome!
The click-lock/press-release mechanism is similar whether facing north-south or east-west. It's like saying the dollar is worth more when it's held horizontally than it is when held vertically. The hooks project from the humidifier and lock into the flow generator. Differences in color and form factor are cosmetic at most. Mine stays together without incident night after night. When together, they handle as a single unit. Either you got the lemon machine in the lot, or you threw your machine against the wall one night in your sleep and can't get it to fit back together right. I've not used the S8, but I've seen and handled both the S8 and the S9 enough to know they are nearly identical with regards to connection clasps between flow generator and humidifier.EricinNC wrote:... the S8 fit together back to back and it was a very tight fit. ... I don't understand why you insist on continually S9-bashing when you could be gathering information about a new/better/different machine FOR YOU provided by either Respironics, DeVilbiss, or Fisher & Paykel. Continually repeating your dislike is counter-productive. It isn't helping you, and it is, frankly, tedious to hear when you don't thank people for their advice, and constantly find only fault. Others have made suggestions about refocusing your efforts. All I see is blind hate for a thing. Yikes. You're going to let a thing suck all that energy out of you? When my sister made her home with the Bantu for a year, she told me they had a saying: "Bantu bantu. Bintu, bintu." -- "People people. Things things." In other words, it's the connections we make and bonds we forge between people that define who we are in this world. Things are not important. Thanking those who respond for their advice and being pleasant could go a long way to making your life more pleasant and less hateful. So...
Aren't you using a System One now? How's that going?

What a simple solution that would be...kempo wrote:The s9 has a 2 year warranty. Have your DME replace it.
Some people readily solve life's little problems; others latch onto them as if they were life's scapegoats instead.

I'm betting even Eric had to laugh at that! Now that is funny.

Re: My Resmed S9 sucks
Geez, it's like deja-vu all over again.
Re: My Resmed S9 sucks
There a plenty of S9 users who frequent this forum. If there was a design problem with the humidifier latching mechanism, there would be plenty of posts about it on the board. I don't remember seeing any. I do remember a recent post from a member who pulled his S9 off of it's perch during the night. He was worried about whether water from the humidifier could damage his machine, but made no mention of the humidifier separating from the blower.
So, even though you don't want to believe it, the signs sure point to a problem with your specific S9. And cpap.com will be more than happy to check out your machine and forward it to ResMed if necessary. The only cost to you will be a few bucks for postage to Houston. I handled a problem with my S8 AutoSet II (it would display spurious "Check Tube" errors and shut down during the night) via cpap.com. ResMed replaced the machine with a new one.
Even if you still want to sell the S9, it will be easier to do so with a unit that performs properly.

Re: My Resmed S9 sucks
I do not see a problem. If it is faulty CPAP>COM will repair or replace the machine. I have been critical of Resmed for their policies and the climateline hose. And yes it is "plastic". But you will find most users are very pleased with the therapy. The S9 is so quiet I do not hear anything. If you think Resmed is having financial problems due to dropping sales you are mistaken. Business is boming! I use my machine when RV'ing and often break it down every night. Never had a problem with the humidifier disconnecting. Yours must be broken. Seems strange you are the only one that has ever had that problem. Calm down and contact the seller. I am sure you will be pleased with the results. If you want the seller to help I would suggest losing the attitude.

Wow, that's true. Given that the unit may be defective, it would be unethical to resell it without proper disclosure of any defects. Time to return it for sure.jdm2857 wrote:Even if you still want to sell the S9, it will be easier to do so with a unit that performs properly.

Re: My Resmed S9 sucks
Been using my S9 for three months and no issues. I have darn near pulled it off the night stand by the hose and it's never come apart. First time I went to pack it up to take it somewhere I couldn't remember how to take it apart and it would not come apart till I remembered the release button. You may have just got a bad unit. Just a newbe here so take it for what it's worth.
