cool plan, but can somebody else bring the maple syrup? its way to expensive here as we have to import it anyway besides i dont think they would let me bring it on the plane, might leak and too sticky.....

If each person promises to bring no less than five jokes, then I will gladly bring the maple syrup.

I, for the first time ever, just went and looked at the pur sleep site to review this pillow talk as noted so aptly by SAG:
StillAnotherGuest wrote:Bret's description for his product says
The 4-inch semi-rigid vertical side panels used in the new Regenesis Pillow provide a thick, three-dimensional space
but the website photo looks nothing like that

Image

with the 4 inch height looking totally out of proportion.

However, since the point of the craft project was to provide a good alternative for much less money (so maybe we should just stick with the basic pillow design that's been around like forever), then simply cutting the 20" x 28" K-Mart pillowcase in half and resewing the seam would make the pillow 14" x 20" (vs Bret's 13" x 18") fill it up with b.wheat and we're done.
sleepycarol wrote:If that were the case he would be posting as much on issues that ARE really and truly IMPORTANT such as helping people find solutions to their cpap treatment.
There ya go, $60.00 buckwheat pillow for 15 bucks. What's the next problem?

SAG
and was very surprised by a few things. One being that the pillow is quite small IMO, this fancy shmancy millet hull one i have ordered and has yet to arrive is 20x27 but does not appear to have this gusset thing which seems to be an issue, anyway millet aside i hope to soon see what all the fuss is about, and i hope it lives up to its overpriced lauded benefits.

Moving on, the second thing I noticed and it stuck out rather plainly for me, and I apologise if this has already been noted on this forum somewhere, but can someone please explain to me that a site that is for people needing help with getting used to cpap equipment and offers a range of products for cpapers, why is the lovely picture of the two attractive models in their photo not wearing any type of cpap mask, nor a hint of a hose, zip, nada???? They just appear to lay there very peacefully snoozing sans the stuff we are needing to be "desensitized" to. I just found this odd and somewhat confusing......Now before anybody gets hot under the collar I am NOT trying to defame, start a war, or have any hostile intent, i just am wondering what the intended marketing angle is as most sites selling cpap related products show people in various types of masks/equipemnt rather prominently. Again I state I am just making an observation and asking a question.

Do Any Really Work?

You know, that's a great point there, GVD, and I think really goes to the most basic of questions here:

Do CPAP specialty pillows work, period?

Because when you look at the footprint and/or design of these things (Regenesis, PAPillow, Contour CPAP Pillow), the Area of Effectiveness is quite tiny, and I, quite frankly, remain very skeptical that one could say universally something like
This results in a pocket that holds the buckwheat hulls right in the desired area even during active sleep
although that seems academic anyway, because if you're asleep, who cares. CPAP speciality pillows should perhaps be more aptly classified as Wake or Transitional Adjuncts, or another tool to simply get you to sleep. And maybe that is the area that really needs scrutiny.

As an aside, one alternative-fill pillow that I did note at the time (I believe it was buckwheat, but didn't ask) was about 12 inches wide but like 2 feet long, and that kind of struck me as something that could address "active sleep", or a restless transition period(s).

But if one's present pillow is like 20 years old, maybe the real issue is that you need to get you down to Target and just get yourself a new pillow, cause you're trying to sleep on an envelope.

Y'know, I asked myself that very same question about this site:

The Original Buckwheat Pillows Online Store

As a matter of fact, it seems like I go back and study that image several times a day to ask that question.

OK, maybe a couple dozen times a day.

AWRIGHT I HAVE IT SET AS MY WALLPAPER!!

But it's all the interest of science.

Sorta.

PS - RG, Barb wasn't there, but David says "Hi".

PPS - I wonder if that model uses "Pad-A-Cheeks".

I think that did come up, possibly in the thread from hell, and Bret said it would be far too expensive to get quality photos of people wearing masks.

Maybe someone could photoshop the one he's using to add some masks.

OK, not really.

Surfin' in the airport (another travel day today). Those donut-shaped neck supports caught my eye. I wonder what they'd be like if you filled 'em up with b.wheat or millet.

Or even used "as is".

Whoops, gotta run...

Oh, my... It's been nearly a quarter-of-a-century now. But once again, Mike, you have me laughing and sighing all at the same time! Did you notice how dry Illinois is staying while your home state of Missouri gets quite the soaking there:

well SAG you might either get chased by a crazed flock of cockatiels wanting the millet, or an equally crazed mob of people seeking the perfect pancake with spatula in one hand and a gallon jug of maple syrup in the other........

Cheers and happy travelling
GVD

PS what exactly was the thread from hell???
