Wonderful news, Zonker, and what a gorgeous setting! My husband is a retired general contractor who did one-off residential work, and the pattern I saw over and over was that the early stages of construction would seem to go on forever, then the space would finally be enclosed and things would seem to move much faster, BUT at the very end the punch list would take forever. So my wish for you is that you FLY through that punch list!
from talking to people who have had houses built, the most frustrating part is when the structure is done and all sealed up BUT the electrician or plumber isn't finished.

they say "I can SEE it's done, why can't i move in??"

I hadn’t realized you were going through all this. So glad things are finally moving again. What is the 30 point guideline?

May you live in the house in good health for a very, very, very long time!

I dream of a tiny house. ANYWHERE but Arizona! I lived in Hell (a.k.a.Yuma, AZ) for 7 awful months of my life I will never get back, and vowed never to set foot in that state again.

So you are living my dream!

flagstaff wasn't exactly hell. it at least didn't reach those gawd awful temps that one sees in the valley.

and with the covid-19 outbreak, aren't you glad you aren't in yuma right now?

all in all, i'm most happy to be back where green is the color that predominates!

Same difference this time of year. Who can go outside with the temps up to 120 F????

We still refer to Yuma (30 years later) as "the four letter word".

Were you in the Marine Corps? I have flown into Yuma. But never stayed. And I was just as glad. The hellish place I lived in for eight years was Buffalo, New York. I have never set foot back there, and never plan to. The record snowfalls from the time I was there still have not been broken.

No no you are confused. I lived in hell for 15 years of cold, dreary, yuck Northern Nevada until I finally made it back home to sunny Arizona. I will take a minimum wage job scrubbing toilets before I ever leave this state again. I will die here !

  Never been to Indiana. I have been to plenty of
other places, tho. Many were fun to visit. I think DC was probably my favorite. I wouldn't mind seeing a few others. I've never been New Orleans and I would love to visit but Arizona is home and I seriously do not want to live anywhere else.

oddly enough, i spent one very drunken night in new orleans at the original pappa joe's, which is a joke because i saw at three other establishments with the same name.

my friend and i kept bribing the guitar player there to keep playing neil young's ambulance blues, over and over and over....

was i ever that young?

i was helping a friend move from indianapolis in to houston tx, where he attended rice university. it was an adventure. i believe i was just barely twenty one that summer.

it WAS a blast and something i haven't thought of in many years.

thanks for helping me to think of it now.

Some of the absolute best adventures are not planned. :).
Daughter and I got stranded on our way home through Vegas when my car broke down on freeway. I managed to coast down the off ramp and pull into the Binions parking lot off of Fremont street. She was still a kid maybe 15-16. The hotel was booked but they managed to find us a room in the old staff wing. No TV, no internet. (Later saw a tv special on that tower being haunted haha) Spent a couple of days on Fremont street while we waited on car parts. Saw some firefighters competition, watched a whole bunch of street performers and enjoyed several free street concerts. We had a blast. The staff at Binions was so nice even giving us several decks of cards to keep us occupied. It was a really nice unexpected break and gave daughter and I a chance to bond when we had been struggling with those teenage years. This is the daughter that now lives in Vegas.

Whoops just realize I've totally hijacked your house topic. I hope you get to move in soon and start making many new wonderful memories !
