I've been using CPAP since 2001. I have a Resmed S7 Lightweight unit, and I have tried various types of head gear. The headgear that I have used the most is the Breeze from Puritan Bennett, with nasal pillows. It is comfortable and easy to adjust. I have also tried the CPAP-Pro device, with the nasal pillows and heat-softened bite-guard. I was really hoping that this would eliminate the mouth venting problem, but it was a disappointment and a big waste of money. My major problem has been mouth venting. Originally, I didn't have a humidifier because my HMO wawas still in the Stone Age regarding OSA and they wouldn't let me have one. My DME suggested that I get a room humidifier instead. Big help NOT! This was before prescriptions were required to buy hhumidifiers, so I found a good price on one. It made me a little bit more comfortable, but didn't stop the venting. Then I sound Chin-Up Strips. I know others don't like the product, but I found them to be a tremendous help. I use the white horseshoe strips. Recently, the adhesive seems to have become much more aggressive, and I tore the skin on my face a couple of times as I removed the strip. The instructions for use say to use warm water to dissolve the adhesive, and this is a must. A few days ago I got a Resmed Quattro FX mask, and I am very encouraged by my experience so far. The first two nights were a little rough as I learned how to adust it, but the last couple of nights have been wonderful. I have been more alert during the afternoon, a sign to me that my therapy has been less than optimum for some time.
