Plus, the old posts can be helpful and interesting.
The Goodmans know how to moderate an excellent forum - do nothing.
I've noticed that the majority of the "complainers" seem to be fairly recent members of the forum. (a few years or less)
Just goes to show that there are no "new" subjects/topics on the forum. Everything has been discussed over and over for years.
I've also noticed that quite a few of them HAVE gotten posting responses and not just votes.
I think the polls are just annoying, and opening a topic to find no new posts is annoying. I now look at the last date before opening anything.
The other issue that I see is that when a topic is really old, it is not familiar, so people naturally open it, thinking it is new. And many of us tend to answer posts as we read them, rather than waiting until reading all the posts. So, if we don't notice the date, we spend time giving advice to people who are long gone. And then, once we realize it is an old topic and decide to ignore it, then the people who add on hoping for advice get very few people looking at their request for help.
What difference does it make if it's a 6 or 8-year old poll or a 3-year old thread asking where a person can download software?

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
Re: **Workaround for Old Threads Popping Up**
Kind of makes me nostalgic to read posts from oldtimers who were so helpful to me when I started. Hope they're all sleeping well! RIP Snoredog.zoocrewphoto wrote:Wulfman... wrote:X 10VVV wrote:Amen to that.SleepyBobR wrote:Such a First World problem.

Even though a bit weird at first, it has been informative-and a welcome distraction
from the vitriol-filled political threads that have been all too common as of late.

Not only the political posts but just more snarky comments in general. I'm annoyed and sad at the same time!

I'd also appreciate it if you didn't mix your words with mine......or at least differentiate the comments in some way.zoocrewphoto wrote:I think the polls are just annoying, and opening a topic to find no new posts is annoying. Lumping them together can be confusing, too.
Maybe "Snoredog" is the one resurrecting these old threads......having some fun with us from the "great beyond".
RIP, my friend.

Sorry about that. I must have deleted the end quote thing when I cropped. I will be more careful in the future.

Well, "How Often Do You Clean Your Tank" has always been one of my favorites, but The Workaround at least gives people The Option.chunkyfrog wrote:Even though a bit weird at first, it has been informative-and a welcome distraction

I mean, if you're short on time and/or using a Droid, wading through polls with no recent responses gets tedious. New threads can get blown off the first page quickly.
And BTW, if there IS a recent response, then the poll thread is not filtered.

I'd say ten years should be plenty. By that time, a pharmacological solution ("The Magic Bullet") will have been discovered.VVV wrote:This seems to be an important thread.
Should I set up an annually recurring reminder for the next twenty years in my Google Calendar and bump up this thread once each year?

I'm sure by then whichever dictator we have running this country will supply us old foyies a supply of the pills, as long as its cheaper than bullets. Well, it'll be much cheaper than bullets (cost of materials anyway. What they're going to charge is another matter).Goofproof wrote:I'm sure by then whichever dictator we have running this country will supply us old foyies a supply of the pills, as long as its cheaper than bullets. However, I don't believe the dictator in power will bother to give old foyies (or fogies, stogies, or any other geez) pharmaceuticals for SA because OFs, at that point, have acquired a protection against the effects of OSA.
Anyway:
Further, cpaptalk will have completed it's transition to a purely social network (BTW, the answer to the question "What should you spend on a 16 year old cat?", the answer is $16.99 (the price of a Craftsman-brand shovel. One hefty swing to put it out of it's misery with the flat side, then flip it over and dig the hole).Microperfusion of the inwardly rectifying potassium channel blocker, barium, as well as the voltage-gated potassium channel blockers, tetraethylammonium and 4-aminopyridine, increased tonic and respiratory-related genioglossus activities throughout nonrapid eye movement (non-REM) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep to 133-300% of levels present during baseline wakefulness...
These findings establish proof-of-principle that targeted blockade of certain potassium channels at the hypoglossal motor pool is an effective strategy for reversing upper airway hypotonia and causing sustained reactivation of genioglossus throughout nonrapid eye movement and rapid eye movement sleep. These findings identify an important new direction for translational approaches to the pharmacological treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.

The Magic Pill, I refurred to was the End Pill, for population control. More than likely just a ditch and a dozer. JimSludge wrote:Goofproof wrote:Sludge wrote:VVV wrote:This seems to be an important thread.
