All hoseheads that know what it is to struggle to get sleep: does this not make you sad, appeal to a common compassion for the fellow suffering and make us all want to provide an environment where people (all people) feel comfortable seeking help?
Sorry, Gomer, I don't do guilt.
This forum atmosphere provides an acid test (or maybe Trial By Fire) for a whole host of activities. "IMHO", "unprovoked attacks" on "newbies" are very rare (position therapy with an oximeter is being touted as "The Rule", but even there, SN apologized (and in my (or any, for that matter) religion, contrition wipes the slate clean, SWO45 is an idiot, and BS is well, BS (and if people think BS has faults (and Lord (note capital "L") knows
I have plenty of faults), then the REAL fault is those who cannot accept her (us) for what she (we) is (are).
Anyway, The Gomer Philosophy really falls short where "Negative & Critical" posting may have "justification" (OK, maybe that should be "never", but again, there are other forums that do that). These areas may include:
- Talking about DMEs that charge for "service" but provide no service.
- "Expert" posters that post the first thing on Google when replying to a question.
- Most OT posts (hey, post whatever you want, just don't be surprised at the responses you get).
- Diagnosis and/or follow-up care that is poor.
- A subset of posters that submit responses designed to make them Look Smart but are wrong ("You need adaptive servo ventilation. Don't worry that it might cost you $5000 out of pocket." "You need CO2 rebreathing. Don't worry that you might suffocate."
- One Post Wonders that get a ton of help but never offer a "Thank You" (although admittedly, those who help can look to Matt 6:1-18).
- Posters who get a ton of help but are still not satisfied (my favorite was "Well that was delightful", although SWA17 is certainly right up there).
- Salesmen who come here under the guise of "helping" but simply are looking for free advertising.
- Posters who create long lists of complaints.
