Murphy's law states that if anything can go wrong...it will go wrong.
Not quite on point. I think what we're dealing with here should be called "Babette's Law of Lost Objects" which states "If you replace a lost object...shortly thereafter said object will appear"

I prefer to call it "The Hoarder's Code".
Which also states that if you can't find it, it is perfectly acceptable to buy another one. And another one. And another one. And....
