Do you recognize the picture that "khauser" put in his post? It's from the Nebraska State Historical Society. I'm trying to figure out if it may be in Lincoln or Omaha. The license plate on the car in the rear appears to be "46" county and the front one appears to be "2" county.

Thanks to Google maps, I believe I got it figured out. Those two tall buildings in the background of that picture are on opposite sides of N Street at the corner of 13th in Lincoln. So, that old gas station would have been in the vicinity of 14th and O Street.

OK, so is that tall building the old Cornhusker Hotel? (I lived in Lincoln 'tween 80 and 86)

No, the "old" Cornhusker Hotel got torn down and replaced and was about another block south of these two buildings on 13th. If you look at that picture in the link that LSAT provided, it shows two tall buildings in the back of the picture. Those buildings are on opposite corners of 13th and N Streets. The one on the left is on the south side of N and the one on the right is on the north side. If you'll remember, "O" Street is the "main drag" east and west through town, so N street is a block south of that. If you go to Google Maps and put in "14th and N Streets, Lincoln, Nebraska", you can spin the image around and see both buildings still standing there. When they took the Google images, there was some construction in the street.

In 1968 I filled up my '66 Dodge Coronet w/ $5 worth quarters! Yes, the grocery store gas pump took quarters!

Thanks Den. I was living in Lincoln when they imploded the hotel in 1982 -- it was a huge deal at the time, implosion was. Fun to look back. I was also living in Lincoln when they filmed "Terms of Endearment" on campus and around the town. I remember one of the professors in the building I worked in, hanging halfway out the window to get a gooood look at Debra Winger who was doing a scene right outside the department office.
