That's how AVI impresses me. He's passionate about things. That sometimes leads others to mistake is posts as provocative. (Oh, there's some of that, but I don't mind it personally. As I noted, I'm having fun doing what I'm doing.)
John, you are too kind. Some people lack social skills, and others are just plain arrogant. Thanks for continuing to share your hobby. I enjoy seeing the pictures from start to finish.

I started a new class today, a Pen, Ink & Watercolor class. But the instructor is shooting for a much looser style of painting than this engineer tends to like. I did not like the way the example painting we did came out. So, I made a shot at something different. It has enough structure and detail to keep me from going nuts. But not so much that you think I'm shooting for a realistic painting. I'm much happier with my New York City Sunset painting. Of course, as with all painting the leans toward abstract, it looks better if you back off from it a bit.

It looks like John has deleted most of his works and I am left alone with my posted pieces.
Question to John, in that NY piece aren't the twin towers showing, meaning that the subject matter prototype is before 9/11?

Nope. Meaning I moved the pieces to another album. I'll edit the posts to change the location.

I edited out the twin towers. The actual photo included them. However, it was a daytime photograph and not a sunset photograph. So, it's only loosely based on a previous work with lots of editing added.

Fixed most of them. Folks who referenced old locations will still have missing images. But that's okay. The originals are back. I decided to separate out the artwork from other images. That allows me to have one link to a slideshow of the artwork:

Thanks, John! Love the drugstore front picture. I must have missed that one before. Nice detail.

You might have noted that my blog has the subtitle " ... learning perspective" ... Today, on the anniversary of September 11th it seems as if a little perspective is something everyone should learn.
Regardless of your beliefs, loss of life should always be remembered. Of course, as Americans we proclaimed that we believe we are endowed with certain "unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". ... Solemnly remember, but refuse to allow terror to dominate your life.

Oh, and just so you'll know, I haven't stopped painting. I completed three 11x14" paintings. But unfortunately, my scanner is not large enough to scan those. So, I will need to have those scanned tomorrow. I'll post them later tomorrow. Oh, and I started working on a new, very detailed pen & ink painting of Duke Chapel. Should keep me off the streets at night!

Hmmm... Sounds as if it's something that should be viewed through a fisheye lens, since a lot of college students see it under "less than ideal" circumstances:

But I do like the idea of drawing / painting many of the landmarks in the area. It's something that will make a recognizable gift for friends.

Today's painting is not any sort of masterpiece. In fact, I might normally have trashed it due to problems I had when painting it. But I decided to "stick with it" and try to rescue the painting. The result was a bit of a "happy accident". ... From failure to "happy accident". Is it all just our perspective? The answer is, of course, a resounding "Yes!!".

I would add some living species to your drawing. We are not alone in this world.
