Consistent Bedtime Routine Helps With Complience

Post by jlmoorekcmo » Thu Jun 06, 2013 9:48 am

Interesting article especially for those who have problems. I know I have found this to be true. I try to go to bed about same time. When I have gotten out of the routine I've had trouble with both compliance & just getting to sleep.
How about you guys?

A routine is good, but K.I.S.S. it. I eat a snack shoot, up insulin, make up ice water, potty break, lay in bed, start nature sounds, t.v., set off timer. Mask up, start xpap, done! The easy part of it is the xpap. Jim

I'm looking forward to my impending retirement.
I intend to stay up as late as I want to, and get up when I've had enough sleep.
Pretty much no change at all.

It doesn't affect my compliance, but certainly helps in general with sleep hygiene.

Watch out, Chunky, you'll wind up like I have this month Ive been off work with my heart.
Up till 4 or 5 in the morning and sleep till noon.
I go back to work in 10 days, guess it's time to start moving bedtime back.

So far I'm liking the structure of my routine bedtime rituals. Keeps me from forgetting something important and I feel contributes to my beginning to have success with cpap therapy. Of course we're all different and changing bedtimes everynight or two may not make a difference to very many. I remember a post from someone who went to bed with the mask upside down. Did this happen because the mask was sitting in a different place..was the person rushed to get to bed to meet a time frame? It caused me to think that a place for everything and everything in its place is probably good advise we received from our mothers. Timing is important. I make sure I'm in the bed between 11:00 - 11:30 every night. My compliance is excellent by the way. Would I dare to deviate from the nightly schedule? Probably not, at least for awhile.

My bedroom is for sleeping in... no tv, radio or computer to distract me. I don't read in bed either since once I start a book, I have to finish it..... maybe 2 or 3 in the morning . My routine never varies, at 10pm go to the bathroom, take my nightly meds, change into my jammies, mask up, get into bed and go to sleep. Sleep from about 10:15pm to anywhere between 6:30 am and 7:30am.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.
