best full face mask for pressure 13+

Post by cpaptony » Sun May 19, 2013 9:02 am

What is the best mask on the market for full face?
I currently have a quattro but notice I have to crank
It tight as hell on the bottom to keep it from leaking

I use sleep phones too so I'd there is something light that would work
That would be great. I signed up for a free quattro air.
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Hi Cpaptony,

Check this site out - http://www.cpaphelpdesk.com/cpap-settings.html which lists full face masks for high pressure. As you can see, the Quattro is listed as number two but maybe the other masks would work.

1. Respironics Comfort Gel Full Face

2. Resmed Mirage Quattro

3. Fisher and Paykel Forma

4. DeVilbiss Easy Fit Gel Full Face Mask

5. Hans Rudolph 7600 series V2

You also might look into a mask liner. Many people have had success with padacheek, http://padacheek.com, and the customer service is outstanding. Other liners are made by Quietus and Remzzzs.

Best of luck.

Do not discount nasal and/or nasal pillows unless you are decided on a ffm. Many people have commented their nasal masks can handle higher pressures.

+1 Totally agree. So glad Pugsy sent me some nasal pillow masks to try. CPAP life is so much better without that FFM

as others have indicated, it may take some trial and error before you find the right mask for you

I have a slight deviated septum, so nasal masks aren't for me.....And I'm not about to allow some doctor to go all "roto-rooter" on my nose.

The Quattro works great for me at my bipap pressure of 20 /14.4

good luck on your search for the best mask for you

The pad a cheek liner helped my leaks a great deal and it's rather cheap to!

The Quattro and Ultra Mirage are great FF masks but make sure you've been fitted properly and have the right size. The mask should be adjusted at full pressure lying down. Good luck and keep us posted.

I was using the Mirage Quattro for about 6 months and went through hell trying to make it work. Switched over to Mirage Liberty and 'on-trial' now with the Hybrid. My high pressure is 13. Last night was a water-mark night for me. 6.5 hrs of sleep! AHI 0.6. I've been averaging 4.0 to 4.5 hrs. The only thing I can think of is the mask is working for me. I think folks say that the nose pillows are the 'holy grail' of masks and we should all make the attempt to use them. I haven't really tried to use them for any length of time myself due to occasional congestion issues. Good luck trying the new ResMed mask.

if you haven't read this great guide on the Mirage Quattro, please do!!

following it made my CPAP life with the Quattro work.

Nasal masks might be the holy grail for some, but there are a lot of us mouth breathers that use FFM's such as the Quattro with no issues.

I have to tighten the bottom straps on my Quattro, too, but not so tight that I'm leaving marks on my face. any looser and the mask "jumps" on my face when the pressures change. The top straps are barely tight and the the screw is "out" pretty far. I read the article on "taming" it and I think I've got pretty well tamed. I don't mind it now.

I have a Tru-Blu nasal mask that seals well (when the cushion is good) too. I'm running BiPAP, 19/13.

I recently tried Karen's PadACheek Anti-Leak strap with my Quattro and it really makes a fantastic difference.

BTW, my pressure is 15-20.

What is the best mask on the market for full face?
The one that you will use all night every night.

Sorry, but it is pretty much trial and error for each individual. Study all the FFMs at cpap dot com and try ones that you think you might like. Any of them can handle your pressures if fitted and adjusted properly.

You will also find devotees in the forum of every model of FFM. So if someone tells you they "luv" a certain model ask them to list the pros/cons versus another FFM they have tried.

Definitely makes sense. On cpap.com there's a way to compare different masks and there is different comparison info on it. For example, almost the only mask I can use is the Quattro because it's the only one with xsmall that can fit more. On the other hand there used to a man posting here who used another type of mask because it was well designed for beards.

Depends on what you need
