The one who apparently confused "assault rifles" with "assault pressure cookers".......
And, then made a snarky remark about Congress.

According to Boston Police Chief Edward Deveau, the brothers had both handguns and a rifle. First they shot the MIT police officer, killing him. Then they engaged in a gunfight with police at 1:00 a.m. Friday morning. "We estimate there was over 200 shots fired in a five- to 10-minute period," Chief Deveau said. A second policeman was shot and seriously wounded. Later the surviving brother exchanged gunfire with police again when he was found in the boat. Details are at Police chief: Boston manhunt began with intense firefight in dark street. So someone who wonders where the killers got their guns isn't confused about what a pressure cooker is.

You know and everyone else with an IQ over 70 knows that hyperlexis was making a cheap and snarky political statement in a thread that was not political up to that point.

You have some silver tongue logic but we are not that naive.

But just to be clear, I have no problem with the introduction of politics in this thread but don't lie and say politics was not introduced by hyperlexis.

The specific term used by the poster was "assault rifles"......not "guns". So, don't try to confuse the issue.

"The translation assault rifle gradually became the common term for similar firearms sharing the same technical definition as the StG 44. In a strict definition, a firearm must have at least the following characteristics to be considered an assault rifle:

It must be an individual weapon with provision to fire from the shoulder (i e a buttstock);
It must be capable of selective fire;
It must have an intermediate-power cartridge: more power than a pistol but less than a standard rifle or battle rifle;
Its ammunition must be supplied from a detachable magazine rather than a feed-belt.
And it should at least have a firing range of 300 meters (1000 feet)

Rifles that meet most of these criteria, but not all, are technically not assault rifles despite frequently being considered as such. For example, semi-automatic-only rifles like the AR-15 (on which the M16 rifle is based) that share parts or design characteristics with assault rifles are not assault rifles, as they are not capable of switching to automatic fire and thus are not selective-fire capable. Belt-fed weapons or rifles with fixed magazines are likewise not assault rifles because they do not have detachable box magazines."

I think we can all agree that their "pressure cooker bombs" or "IEDs" (Improvised Explosive Devices) killed and maimed far more people than any "firearms" they had.

Hmm,

A post I wrote objecting to politics was deleted. Anyway, let me set the record straight regarding the posts that were conveniently deleted.

Goof Proof and Porete made posts coming from the right wing side and criticizing government. Pikov objected and felt they lacked sensitivity.

Hyperlexis did chime in with his post but it was not the first one interjecting politics.

Whoever deleted all the posts, particularly ones that you didn't write, SHAME ON YOU!

In Boston, yes, and by chance. If you are suggesting that "firearms" don't kill people, speak to the families at Sandy Hook Elementary.

I was careful NOT to say that, since the reference to Congress was political. Only to say that hyperlexis hadn't confused guns with pressure cookers. Guns were part of this story and there is nothing snarky about wondering where the killers got theirs. I wonder myself.

No, I know you wouldn't delete posts you didn't write.

I just didn't appreciate Hyperlexis being blamed for being the first person to interject politics when I know for a fact that he didn't.
