I took his first name out of my original post. I just want to get through to my stupid 30 day visit with them and then get out of there. My brother is a doctor in Arizona. I just spoke with him tonight and he said he'd write the RX for me. He thought it was really weird to be written that way too. He said the same thing as Jim. That if they had a preference for something specific he'd expect that they'd put the specific. Not just Dr' Joe Blow's choice. However, I"m determined to get my RX from them. Why should it be "his choice" what mask I get for God's sake? That's bullsh*t. I do think I misunderstood the whole 30 days/90 days thing. What Jim said makes more sense about the 30 days in a 90 day period (and thanks Jim for noticing how incredibly adorable my babies are!)

I'm guessing his ghost writer never met him.

Because I have to see him for my 30 day visit with him anyway. And they should give me my RX. I can't imagine they wouldn't do it with me standing right there in front of them. I'm not going to belabor over it before then though. Especially since I can get it from my brother, my PCP, my ENT doc, etc. But I do have to get to the 30 day visit with him for my insurance. I have other things to do too.... Life, work, yoga, etc.

Sometimes they need to be reminded that THEY work for YOU.
If they receive money from your insurance provider, to whom you've paid insurance premiums to.......THEY work for YOU.
THEY are NOT "GOD". They're just like a mechanic or consultant. Nothing more.

Never met the doc. He may be a loser.

But then again, it MAY be that the doc has seen patients get abused by dishonest DMEs before and is just trying to be protective of his patients, by approving only machines that give data, for example.

Just guessing.

A sleep doc is just as capable as anyone else of being a greedy basssss-tion of money grubbing nonsense. But he may be trying to be helpful and just going about it in a strange way.

I don't like docs and DMEs being joined at the hip, but there can be advantages to it.

Sometimes we gain more by selecting our battles.
I would go for the no-trouble RX, and concentrate on something more productive,
like lining up his replacement.

A doctors job is to keep you alive until your body repairs itself, A mechanic has to repair the problem and make it safe to keep operating. Mechanics don't bury their mistakes!

Yes you are right. Dad used to be a mechanic and he taught it too. He used to keep airplanes in the air. What doctor keeps you functioning at thousands of feet in the air?

The doc could have written "S9 Autoset" or "data capable machine" and for mask, "patient's choice"

My doc owns a DME, yet he didn't try any of these shenanigans. He specified the S9 Autoset, climate line, etc. the full Monty!

You're probably correct with the word "some". However, I can't recall ever having any who have worked on any of my vehicles being much better than "mediocre" or "average". Many of them have had to work on mine several times before they finally fixed what needed fixing. About the mechanics burying their mistakes........I HAVE STORIES I COULD TELL!!!

Unfortunately for me, you never got to work on any of mine.
