possible backup asv unit , compatible with current script?
Hey,
Seems I've been making alot of new threads lately. Thanks everyone for the help.. It is appreciated
I'm considering picking up a gently used machine for a backup, and could not find info on this machine to see what settings it allows. Its a VPAP Adapt SV
http://www.resmed.com/us/products/vpap_ ... clinicians
My current settings on my s9 vpap adapt according to sleepyhead are:
Epap 15
ipap lo 17
ipap hi 30
ps min 2
ps max 15
Can anyone confirm this machine would work with these settings?

Re: possible backup, compatible with current script?
Okay, I'm a little confused here...
My current machine shows operating pressure range from 4 to 25 cm H20
Yet my settings according to sleepyhead shows 30 for ipap hi? Wouldn't that be over what the machine allows or am I reading it wrong?
I got these pressure settings from http://www.respshop.com/manuals/1014527 ... 0Sheet.pdf
Now, those pressure settings seem to be the same for the machine I'm looking at for a potential backup according to this link under pressure features

So I'm guessing since the pressure ranges are the same... it would work? Anyone able to chime in here?

Re: possible backup, compatible with current script?
4 + 25 are the default hi and lo settings for the machine (4 + 20 for regular C+Apaps). Your settings are then programmaed within those to help the machine avoid apneas - e.g. if your apneas usually kick in at 8, or 14, the machine would be programmed for say 7 (with a high setting of a couple above your commonly reached high 'percentile'), or 13 and e.g. 18 (if 17 is your common high, though the machine can go higher if necessary. BUT if the machine's left only at 4 and 20, and an apnea happens at 8, it could take the machine too long for the low (4) to reach 8, so leaving it at 7 (below which you normally rarely go) makes more sense... and ditto for the high setting.

First, I probably can't answer your specific question, but beware: the linked Resmed ASV you refer to is an S8, and it won't use the same kind of data card. You may not be able to download any data off it.
Hopefully, an ASV expert will notice with this BUMP, and can give better, specific advice. earl aka n0hardmask

Re: possible backup, compatible with current script?
This is an error on SleepyHead's part. Just a little pressure setting bug.Nooblakahn wrote:Yet my settings according to sleepyhead shows 30 for ipap hi? Wouldn't that be over what the machine allows or am I reading it wrong?
You are right the machine will not exceed 25 cm.
I do believe that the S8 machine you spoke of above would be the older model of what you are using now and would offer you the same basic setting choices. You would need to compare both provider manuals to see the exact differences but I think for the most part the basics are the same.
Add ASV to your subject line and hopefully SWS or JohnBFisher will stop by and see your question. They could tell you exactly what differences there might be in the 2 machines.
Like...."compatible with current ASV script"

Oh. I thought this was an 7s generation machine. Either way... I know the s8 doesn't track centrals.. and this one likely would not either. I don't intend it to replace my s9 vpap adapt... just to have this one for just in case.. or the rare traveling event.
Good point on the asv I will add that. Didn't realize I left it off.

Re: possible backup asv unit , compatible with current script?
That one you mentioned might be the S7 model...I haven't kept up with all the models and don't know if they even had a S8 model that did the same thing. Sometimes with these high end machines they skip a model line.
I thought I saw a link for the same machine in a S8 model...but now I can't find it. I may have dreamed it. ResMed's site is a PITA to get around in sometimes. Now I can't find any S8 models and I know they are there somewhere.
If the S7 was real cheap...it would make a good backup machine and likely do what you want in a pinch.

Agreed, there site is a mess. I know I had seen the ranges on resmed's site before, I have not been able to find them again. I swear I also saw somewhere that the s9 vpap adapt Was being discontinued, and a vpap csa or some other model was taking its place. Can't find that either. The guy selling the machine is a well respected member of this forum, he said it will work with this script. I am going to take is word on it. Its McDover. I know you highly recommended him Pugsy. Now just to convince my wife I need a backup unit.

Yeah, I saw that mentioned too. Don't know about the Adapt being discontinued but for sure a new and improved type of ASV machine. I think it is in Europe...don't know about here in US yet.Nooblakahn wrote:he s9 vpap adapt Was being discontinued, and a vpap csa or some other model was taking its place.
I don't think I saved that discussion (darn it) but I remember seeing it .
I will see if I can find it and stick it in here if I do.
Edit...it wasn't Europe..it was Australia

Nooblakahn, you can set that machine close to your script as follows:Nooblakahn wrote: I'm considering picking up a gently used machine for a backup, and could not find info on this machine to see what settings it allows. Its a VPAP Adapt SV

My current settings on my s9 vpap adapt according to sleepyhead are:
Epap 15
ipap lo 17
ipap hi 25
ps min 2
ps max 15
I highlighted the differences in red. The first, EEP instead of EPAP, is just nomenclature. The second difference, ps min 3, is the lowest value allowed on the
Can anyone confirm this machine would work with these settings?
EEP 15
ipap lo 18 (must USE PS MIN SETTING TO ACHIEVE THIS PARAMETER---PS MIN 3 IS LOWEST ALLOWED, HENCE 18cm)
ipap hi 25 (MUST USE PS MAX SETTING To ACHIEVE THIS PARAMETER)
ps min 3
ps max 10 (EPAP 15 FORCES THIS VALUE DOWN TO 10cm, SINCE IPAP MAX IS 25cm)
I highlighted the differences in red. The first, EEP instead of EPAP, is only naming convention---nothing more. The second and third discrepancies are because the model 26013 can only go as low as ps min 3. However, the fourth difference is based on the machine only being able to deliver IPAP 25 at most. Here are the allowed settings for that 26013 model: http://www.resmed.com/us/clinicians/tre ... clinicians

Re: possible backup asv unit , compatible with current script?
Didn't know there was a pressure setting but in sleepyhead.. and sleepyhead seemed to wig out on me today.. saying that I slept for 16 hours last night... I wish. Anyways.. resscan data looks correct, and shows this for device settings:
therapy mode: asvauto
max EPAP 15 cm H20
min EPAP 8.0 cm H20
Max PS 15.0 cm H20
Min PS 2.0 cm H20
Does this look better?

max EPAP 15 cm H20
min EPAP 8.0 cm H20
Max PS 15.0 cm H20
Min PS 2.0 cm H20

Double session bug...happens when the clock on the machine gets changed...Nooblakahn wrote:sleepyhead seemed to wig out on me today.. saying that I slept for 16 hours last night
If you will install the Patch file it should remedy the double session thing.
You can also turn off the double session...scroll way down below the numbers on that left detail side till you see the 2 sessions.
Turn one off by changing the green to red by clicking on it. If you do the wrong one the graphs on the right will disappear...just turn that one back on again and then go to the other one and turn it off. For some reason though...sometimes the turning off doesn't stick.
The double session thing...PITA but it was a bug in SH import after the clock change. I saw it last year.
I installed the Patch file (just to try it) and I no longer have the double session annoyance.

Re: possible backup asv unit , compatible with current script?
Nooblakahn, the 26013 model can't do that EPAP range---it can only deliver a fixed EPAP pressure. Whether you want to use it as a cost-effective backup is up to you and your doctor. But you won't be able to set the older 26013 model to match your current EPAP range or deliver MIN PS of 2cm.

Re: possible backup asv unit , compatible with current script?
Thanks Pugsy. I just turned off the session. That fixed it. I didn't change the clock, i'm sure this was an auto update from daylight savings time.
Hmm.. not sure if I want to bite on the machine if it can't be set to my script...

Uh Oh...I thought the double sessions were tied to changing the clock on the S9.Nooblakahn wrote: I didn't change the clock
Respironics users have never had that little annoyance and I only had it show up the very day after I changed mine last spring.
Guess I have to re evaluate that idea.
You likely will see the double sessions every day now though.
If it becomes too annoying just install the Patch file and see if that stops it. I think it will...at least it did mine.
