But it took me a little time to learn everyone's reputation and style. It was worth it to learn the ropes before I started spouting off too much and arguing with everyone and challenging every statement that wasn't made exactly to my liking. Especially so when asking for input and help. It was only later I turned into the argumentative, opinionated troll I am today.

Besides all the very obvious reasons for using screen names on the internet, I've really enjoyed seeing the creative names and avatars that people have come up with. A couple of times I've thought what fun it would be to have a "Most Entertaining Avatar" or "Most Creative Username" contest. I've also imagined a big cpaptalk get-together where instead of the traditional name badges people wear at big conventions, everyone is wearing a badge with their username and avatar instead. (Though it might be disillusioning to meet Froggie for real -- I love her as our endearing amphibious little friend. And some people would have to keep disappearing and reappearing, each time with another one of their badges.)

But hey, I figure that once I start pushing 80 years of age, I may have issues with more than usernames. I just hope I have what it takes to keep up with the technology then, whatever it turns out to be. Hopefully if I stay on PAP I'll be able to, if I make it to that age. I'm not sure I'll make it to 120 like DreamStalker plans to, though.

I once was a very active member of a board dedicated to the proper installation of ceramic tile. (http://www.tileyourworld.com)

A tile product manufacturer offered to host a 3-day training session normally reserved for pros to 20-some-odd forum members. They picked up all (and I mean all) expenses except for travel to the site. It was a hoot to match real people to usernames. (As well a being thrown out of the hotel lobby for drinking beer that one member brought into the hotel. We moved to the patio where management ignored us.)

But somehow I don't think that ResMed would pick up the tab for a cpap.com meeting.

Don't laugh...I "really" do know a Bob and Betty Jones...actually I know about three Bob Jones I also know a couple named Dave and Jane Smith. Jane told me once that they have problems whenever they check into a motel or hotel.....the desk clerk never believes them
