Agree - not only that but it makes life a little more interesting now and then. Normally, I don't eat anything after 7pm - but so far, it hasn't seemed to effect my sleep any other than in a positive way. I don't know if I'll gain any weight from it, that remains to be seen. I think I'm so desperate for the deep sleep, that I'd try just about anything (within safe reason) to try to get a little more. It took me nine months to heal from the surgery I had last year. . .and I can probably bet that not getting much in the way of deep sleep contributed to that. . .so, right now. . .it's more important to me to get the right kind of sleep.LSAT wrote:Food and milk before bed can also cause heartburn for some folks. so calcium, magnesium and vitamin D are the order of the day.
The magnesium helps absorb the calcium
The vitamin D helps absorb both the calcium and magnesium.
So the calcium and magnesium can help produce melatonin, somehow

I don't know if it has anything to do with the melatonin... I just know I have a precious hard time getting any deep sleep. . .I fall asleep at the same rate. I don't think any of that effect my circadian clock in any way. I think the calcium and magnesium . . . and by proxy, Vit D just help my muscles to relax. . . and that helps me either get to or stay in deep sleep. . .maybe. **shrugs**Uncle_Bob wrote:so calcium, magnesium and vitamin D are the order of the day.

I missed a couple of nights drinking a cup of hot milk before bed and my deep sleep went right back to 12 and 14 minutes. I had a cup last night before bed, I had 32 minutes. . .so. . . I'm just going to keep doing something that seems to be working. . . for all I know it might just be that warm luscious comfort, who knows.
