When you finally get that "perfect fit" on your mask, Mark the position on your headgear with a permanent marker so you can get it back together the same way when you take it apart for cleaning...

Wow - how often we overlook the obvious. This is an excellent idea and will try it. Wish I read this a day ago when I had a great fit. LOL
