white filter placement - plastic inside or out?

Post by call104 » Thu Nov 29, 2012 10:30 pm

Hi ,
I have had my CPAP machine for a year, and finally remembered to look at the filters.
The grey foam was clean, but the white filter was covered with dust !

Could someone tell me how to install the replacement white filter -- there is a plastic side and a soft side.
Which side should be facing inside the CPAP machine?

thank you for all of the pointers

Hi There,
It is easier to help if you sign up with a profile and list your equipment. I believe there are a lot of different machines and they all work slightly differently.

I suspect a bit of both. How quickly did you notice them becoming darker?
It only took a week.

I took the filter out and cleaned it. It is now white again. I guess it was dirt.

Is it washable?

I think the general rule is foam filters can be washed; fiber filters may not;
but I can get a bit more use out of them if you can shake/snap the visible dirt off.
(not everyone is as stingy as the frog)

Hrmmm, I wonder if you could vacuum clean the white filters such as you can in some of the "Air Purifiers"...

That's what my DME told me to do, shake/wipe the filter and it'll last longer (and work better).

I think that would be a good idea. That should extend the life of the white filter a lot. I'll start vacuuming my white filter when I wash my foam filter.
