I tried to send a pm to someone about 2 hours ago and it's still sitting in my outbox instead of in the sent folder.
I pm'd the same person yesterday afternoon and it sat in my outbox for several minutes before the message showed it had been sent. At the time I assumed it was because I was new, but now I don't understand why it's taking so long.
The mystery "1 new message" message
Re: The mystery "1 new message" message
As long as the message sits in the outbox then that means the receiver has not read it yet.Bon Bon wrote:I tried to send a pm to someone about 2 hours ago and it's still sitting in my outbox instead of in the sent folder.

Once the receiver reads it..then it goes to the sent box.
This way you know if your message has been received and read.
If the receiver is online then likely reads it quickly. When it sits in the outbox then that means the person has not been to the forum yet to be notified that they have a new message so haven't had a chance to read it.
So no big deal for it to sit in outbox for a while.
