The mystery "1 new message" message

Post by kaiasgram » Tue Oct 09, 2012 12:15 pm

As of last night I have a "1 new message" notification, but there's no new message in my inbox as far as I can see -- anyone else have this mystery new message?

Take comfort from the fact that you're not getting a message from someone who's not there.

Maybe you can delete a PM before it's read?
If possible, that might do it
And, no, it wasn't me.

Oh no... that may have been me. I started to send you a PM last night... got called away from the computer and forgot all about it. I'm so sorry! Anyway, I "think" I may have caused that. Ya know... it is almost Halloween...

*Twilight Zone music here* Ems, try sending your pm again, maybe if I open it that will make the mystery "1 new message" notice go away -- plus I'd like to see what you wanted to say.

Thanks to those who sent me pms. I've now completely emptied out my Inbox -- (*more Twilight Zone music*) -- the "1 new message" is still there. I must have accidentally deleted an unread pm. But if the powers-that-be see this, please tell me how to correct the boo boo. I keep seeing that I have a new message and I always have to check in case there really is a new message! Thanks!

Are you telling me that I didn't cause this? Hmmm... then in that case I take back my apology.

Well now we can't exactly prove that you didn't cause the problem -- nevertheless I'm gonna let you off the hook. Innocent until proven guilty and all that...

BTW, I not not only emptied my Inbox, I also logged out, cleared my cpaptalk.com cookies, and logged back in -- still the mystery message is there. Bizarre...

Try sending yourself a message and see if accessing it doesn't clean out the thing.

Did you delete something without reading it? Check your deleted mail folder, and if there is anything in there that you haven't read, that may be the cause. You should be able to read it, and if you want to keep it move it back to your inbox. If you don't want it, empty the folder. That should deal with the ghost. If not, you will need to call ghostbusters aka the site admins to figure it out for you!

Julie -- Tried your suggestion, thanks for offering it. "Ghost message" still there.

SleepyToo, it's possible I deleted something without reading it, but I can't find a "deleted mail folder" anywhere -- help?! Ghostbuster time!

I've found some buglets in the message system myself. For example, if I browse the forum on my tablet or phone, then there might be one unread message but I don't even go into my messages as of then because I want to use a PC to be able to view/respond since TAPATALK has a major bug on this forum that you can't even reply to a PM without error. - Well when I'm back on the PC, I have to remember that this once said I had a new message because it no longer says up at the top that I have any unread messages but if I click into the PM area, sure enough, there sits an unread message.

I know, very confusing.

It's Pugsy's aliens again. They probably left something behind when they abducted your and wiped your memory.
