cpaptalk.com buglets: pm- new messages & MySQL server errors

Howdy,

Sorry for the delay. I saw this thread this morning. I received a few emails over the past week by a couple of people who saw this as well. Our IT guys are trying to hunt down the cause. Since it is happening pretty randomly, it is harder to locate the root cause. I will update when I hear more from them.

I've been getting this error ever since they began fixing things. It seems to be just momentary but annoying none the less.

The short answer: It means that either GoDaddy is spending more money on marketing than on infrastructure again, or we're too popular for our host's QoS agreement.

The long answer: Whichever instance of the PHP parser that spawned for that particular session couldn't create a connection to the MySQL remote service on the database backend that stores all of the posts. The IT team is going to have to go through the Apache logs on however many virtual webservers are assigned to this site and locate which one(s) are throwing the error. Since you gave the exact error message, the search should go a lot faster than if they had to go by hand.

My gut is telling me that it's a config file on one particular virtual machine, but since it's been years since I supported MySQL and I don't deal with PHP enough to know the red portal from the blue one I'm probably wrong.

This just happened, at least 3x daily. Very slow uploading website, no problems on other sites.

The page came up when I did a reload. I've seen this same error several times. I just figured it was probably a server overload condition, but maybe not.

They have put in a fix. Please let me know if you see these errors any more.

I just got this error message:

Closing browser and reopening fixed it. This is the second time in an hour I've gotten this today.

I had another message last night. Happened after you posted that things should be okay but I hadn't read your post yet so didn't think to save it. Didn't have it again though and so far none this AM.

I'm using a mac computer with firefox and no errors. I hope that I didn't speak to soons.
