Granny - that was the most maddening thing you've ever written!!
We've all busted ourselves encouraging her to get checked out just in case, and here you are going the other way... you're entitled to your opinion, but was it really necessary to post it under the circumstances?
There's nothing at all for her to lose by going in, but a potential huge lot by not doing it, and some of us are coming from lifetimes of working in hospitals... not just sticking our 2 cents in for nothing - believe me I'd rather be cruising on the water than worrying about BC, but I'll do it until she says all is ok. It's not like she stubbed her toe.

Well there you go!
Too bad you got such an overreaction here - now it will cost you the time and expense of an office visit. Maybe you can cancel it and wait until you need a new med refill?
I think a few people in this thread would be better off taking a relaxing cruise and ceasing fretting over imagined death and destruction in the forum. (teehee)

Not much to lose? Oh c'mon, I don't see you or "most of the others" offering to pay for her medical bills. A typical visit to a PC doc where I live is $80 to $160 plus the EKG maybe another $100 to $150 and then blood test will also be needed to verify any damage to heart, maybe another $150 to $200. If you have insurance maybe it will all be under $100 but without, $300 to $500 just to find out if anything happened. If they do find anything you can be certain they will add RX meds, more tests and more office visits and specialists and it adds up real quick. You can buy lots of fresh meat and veggies for $500 and exercise, rest, and stress relief are free and you will end up at the same place in the end.Julie wrote:Granny - that was the most maddening thing you've ever written!!

If she has severe sudden onset symptoms, then definitely get to the ER and then let the so-called "free-market/socialist" messed up healthcare system (that is actually a fascist system) pick up the tab.
And she did say it is ok now ...

Had no need to do yet and if I have things my way they never will!

And as another poster said - for women it can be back pain. Women can experience heart attack pain in many different ways and back pain is one of them.BCampbell wrote:Yea that is kinda what I was thinking. The only pain Was back pai . BUT

Under these circumstances, BC, I think most of us believe you're doing the best thing, even at the same time that we know the lack of health insurance is a big impediment. Thanks for your plan to let us know next week how the appointment went.BCampbell wrote: There is a history of heart problems

Yes, all of you who are sitting at home playing on the computer are happy for her to run off to the doctor and waste a lot of her time and money - no skin off your nose when nothing comes of this trouble.
Like this man says you should pay her bills and pay her for her lost work time:
Depending on how she expresses herself they may rush her off for a heart catheterization that will cost major bucks and needlessly damage the walls of her arteries - that is, leave tiny scars where plaque tends to accumulate.DreamStalker wrote:

Re: Strange dream and chest pain
I have read a few of your posts and there is frequently in them a meandering from a practical solution to what seems to me to be a dark, severe streak of paranoia and uselessness.DreamStalker wrote: then let the so-called "free-market/socialist" messed up healthcare system (that is actually a fascist system) pick up the tab.
Could this be a nasty side effect of sleep apnea?
(Sorry for meandering a bit myself, but I have been noticing this for the last couple of weeks.)

I assure you that the side effect is of my very well managed OSA (100% compliant with AHI consistently less than 0.5).ChicagoGranny wrote:I have read a few of your posts and there is frequently in them a meandering from a practical solution to what seems to me to be a dark, severe streak of paranoia and uselessness.DreamStalker wrote: then let the so-called "free-market/socialist" messed up healthcare system (that is actually a fascist system) pick up the tab.

I see what I see and I know what I know … and for now, that classifies me as a social outlier and by definition, a crazed paranoid schizo or whatever you want to call me. What I see are dark clouds of dangerous change approaching and what I know are the consequences of the storm those clouds bring to our future. What you view as my practical solutions are the truth I speak and what seems to you as uselessness is your own inability to connect the dots.

Re: Strange dream and chest pain
I went back to college for three years in my late 30's (while working full-time)
just so I could get a "real" job, --one with decent health insurance.
It was a lot of work, but I do not regret it at all; especially now.

I just pay my taxes and know I can walk into any ER and not have to worry about a thing.chunkyfrog wrote:I went back to college for three years in my late 30's (while working full-time)
