Guess what, we had a faulty outlet with a half broken wire which was causing intermittent "electrical vibrations"( I think that's what he said). Anyway, he replaced the outlet, checked out everything else and last night was uneventful! Arch, why didn't you think of that!
Doesn't this count?

Did it still shut down when it was plugged into the UPS you got?

I think auto off is always enabled. If there is a large enough leak, the machine may think it's just blowing air and shut off. Not sure why it would restart on it's own if autostart is enabled (mine becomes unresponsive until I unplug it when I've taken the mask off in my sleep).

Well, OK! The electrician said the UPS did kick in for about 2hrs for the S9 and concentrator, said this UPS we bought gives about that much time, then he said it was shut off for about 45mins, until the UPS alarm started beeping which woke me up 15mins later, so a total of 1hr with machine off. Last night again there was no shut off.

That sounds like the didn't go off until the battery went down. It should go off when the power went away.
Was your other power alarm plugged into a different outlet than the vent and CPAP?

Arch, I think I may have confused myself and you as to the sequence of events, now that you're asking, I'm not really sure which came first the chicken or egg, just happy it seems to be resolved. My brain can't seem to hold very much these days but I hate when I don't understand things! My wakeup alarm is plugged into another outlet at my bedside and it didn't go off. I tested it and it's working OK. Thanks for all your help and patience.
