By deleting SPAM (NOT useful POSTS), you deny them the platform they want. It keeps the forum cleaner, useful posts stay on the fromt page where they are seen longer by more users. Locking SPAM posts in by commenting on them, is close to being a spammer in it's on right, self control is a good thing. Jim
