BEWARE: A PILLOW EXCHANGE LIAR IS AMONG US

Post by mikewithe » Thu Jun 07, 2012 12:37 am

I just wanted to let people know that I was recently PM'd by someone in reply to a post I had made in the pillow exchange thread. This person agreed to send me a medium swift fx pillow in exchange for a large. I shipped mine out as promised and have never received my medium. The USPS said that the time in transit from his zip to mine should have resulted in delivery on monday 5/4. Here we are on Wednesday 5/6 and still no pillow, and he is not replying to my messages. His ENTIRE history of posts on the site (all 5 of them since he joined in 2009) has been in the pillow exchange thread. Anyway, I know I have no recourse but I wanted to let people know about this. If you would like more detailed information so that you can avoid getting ripped off yourself, PM me.

And, moderators, if this post is out of line please accept my apologies and delete it.

I would give it another week before I would call him a thief. The post office can lose things. Of course he/she should respond to your message. In fairness I don't ever check for PMs here, perhaps he doesn't either.

If things don't get resolved I would out the punk by posting his handle. I'm curious how this turns out because I use the Swift FX medium pillow and have some large ones I'd like to trade. I wonder if he has failed to complete a deal with anybody else here?

Good luck with this. I understand your frustration and commend you for how you have handled this.

Perhaps you are right, however, he was very prompt in replying to multiple PMs when arranging the trade. And, as far as checking for them... The notification emails are functioning again so he is being notified via email that he is receiving PMs.

I hope you get your pillow.
Along these lines, how is it handled when somebody buys a PAP machine from a stranger for $100's of dollars? I'd be concerned about sending a stranger a lot of money. Do people send the money and hope the stranger is honest? Is there a better way?

there should be a rule that you cannot sell or exchange anything until you have been a member for six months and made at least 50 posts. some of these things look awful tempting but when ya see new member and one post selling a machine, ya should know what's coming. do your research on the person you're dealing with.

In answer to buying something for 100s of dollars. You can use paypal and if there is a problem, you can file a complaint and the seller will have to prove they sent it. Or if the seller accepts credit cards, you can pay with a credit card and file a dispute that way if you have a problem.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Yup, I think the same dude ripped me off. The tracking number said it arrived to him May 29. I haven't received anything yet. I should have asked for a tracking number!! I can't believe someone would do this!

I have been trading and buying/selling for the whole two years + that I have been here on the forum, my M series, a humidifier for it, a swift, numerous pillows and just recently sold my Aloha and have NEVER had a problem using either paypal or sending cheques. It takes up to 3 weeks to receive stuff from the U.S./Canada and reverse, perhaps your trader is farther away from you and it will take a day or two longer....benefit of the doubt ?
To those of you that have sold, bought or traded with me, I thank you for treating this old lady with respect and friendship.
I hope you get this resolved in a timely manner, if not, I would tend to "out" this trader. I would hate to see this ruin our trust and respect of each other.
Cheers
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

I'm sorry for your loss.

If my mother (who uses your size) had been involved with this in about January just as she fell... wouldn't be able to figure out she owed until this month.

I wish the best of luck to all involved (unless they are scamming)

I very recently used PayPal to get a mask from someone who otherwise had not been on the forum in the past and there was no problem at all except that the thing was not in an 'original' bag, but loose in a box, so I replaced the cushion with a spare I had... and certainly price-wise it was worth it.

I agree with Nan Wilson. I would give him until Monday and them ask that you publish his name so the rest of us don't have to fall prey to him.

I have been involved in some several transactions here and have never been ripped off. I am not saying it doesn't happen, though.

I would give a few more days, just because yours was sent out and received doesn't mean that you won't get yours at some point in a few days. Maybe his postal service is slower on his end, maybe he had a mishap of some sort, things do come up at time.

If after a few more days you don't receive the pillows, then by all means let us know who it it.
