If anyone is using an Resmed Airfit F20 or AirTouch F20 mask and can document that the siphon vent flaps are cycling open and closed while in use, could you report that here to this conversation along with the pressure setting your CPAP is operating at?

THEY ARE NEVER SUPPOSED TO OPEN when the machine is on, no AA valves are.

I have used the AirTouch F20 for almost two years. When I start with autostart, the flaps are open. A few sharp inhalations and the machine starts. The flaps then snap closed and stay closed while in use. I have had a few power outages -- when that happens, the flaps have opened. This is all the way mask is designed to work -- and is how each of my last three masks have worked. And it is the way that the older (pre-quiet elbow) worked on my Quattro Air.

I get blood work done every few months (long story) and my CO2 levels have been fine. My sats have been normal. In fairness, I have not had an ABG.

I can "trick" my mask into cycling the flaps by covering the openings near them (the opening that brings in air in the event of a power outage). Why one would want to do that, I have no idea.

The venting occurs from the ring in the elbow (rather than in the Quattro where it is from a ring on the mask itself.). So, what makes the newer elbow quieter? According to ResMed:

"QuietAir is a new diffuser vent within the mask elbow. Featuring small multidirectional openings over a widespread area, QuietAir breaks up exhaled air so that it's spread out lightly. While it releases the same amount of air per breath as our existing standard elbow, it's much quieter and gentler."

Just for clarity, exhaled air passes through FIXED vent holes/screen, etc.
---but always FIXED, not flexible.
The flexible valve is for INHALED air when the cpap is not running.
It seems that there is confusion when people are unable to SEE those little vent holes.

I dont believe its venting out properly and its screwing me up, I need to change masks. Horrible design. I use that mask with a bipap dream station auto bipap

This could only happen if you let the mask get so filthy that the vent holes were clogged.
These holes are precision drilled and tested to provide more than enough airflow for exhalation.
The tolerances are more than adequate for use by anyone needing cpap.
If you needed larger holes, your doctor would KNOW--Otherwise it is a COMFORT issue.
And that is very much a real thing. Buy a different mask.

bad effects from using it, it's not a cleanliness issue either .

This mask works fine for most of us.
I have even used one--airflow is just fine.
Like I said, comfort is a very real issue.
Do what you need to make YOU comfortable.
Trying to blame the designers for your discomfort is hopeless.
Been there, wore out the t-shirt.
They only design for the AVERAGE face--not unusually cute frogs.

Point us to the class action lawsuit.
