Humidifier if I don't have dry mount

I just started using cpap about a month ago. Bought a Resmed S9 and a Swift FX nasal pillow. Love it all, except the air exhaling out of e mask is cold and wakes me up sometimes. I don't wake with a dry mouth, but I'm wondering if adding the humidifier will help with the air temp issues. Tha only thing I don't like about the Swift FX is that it does not widely disperse the air outflow, and the concentrated stream of cold air can be bothersome.
The S9 humidifier isn't cheap, so I don't want to waste my money if it's not going to make any significant difference. Any advice?

For some people a humidifier makes a very dramatic difference. Without one I am in pain. Your sinuses and air passages are designed to handle warm humid air. Without it they can dry out, crack and start bleeding or get infected.

There are heated hoses that don't have to be attached to humidifier. Not cheap though. People do make their own with reptile heater cable. Discussed often here at the forum and a search for it should bring up the directions.

Also using a hose cozy to insulate the hose may warm the air up enough so you won't have ice cube nose. A nice fleece might be enough. Only you will know if it is sufficient for your needs.

Adding a humidifier warms the water and unless you use the ResMed heated hose with it..you still may not have enough warmth to suit you.

I used a humidifier ( I need it for the moisture ) and when temps started turning colder even with humidifier at max I still had ice cube nose. So I added a good fleece hose cozy and it did help some but not quite enough to suit my needs so I opted for a heated hose.

So your cheapest option would be maybe a hose cozy or make your own heated hose if you are wanting to try to warm the exhaust air or the air going up the nose.

Aussie heated hose is quite expensive. I opted for one about half the price and it suits my needs.

I have the climate line for the resumed, but it says not to use it unless you use the humidifier. Certainly don't want to mess up the cpap. Anybody got any experience with the climate line alone?

I don't think it will fit without the humidifier. Its designed with a locking and contacts to work with the humidifier.

I use humidifier year round. In the summer I am on passover with climate line turned off. In the winter I set it to between 65-70 degrees.

I find the humidifier is a must have! I have to say, that I am not one for humid air, it makes me sick thinking about it. I am always hot and I like everything to be cold. I will sleep with the bed room windows open when it is snowing out!
I was using my humidifier with it just passing over it and it would be really cold, and uncomfortable in the am. Go figure, I am never cold and I find this to be cold.
I use the humidifier and it keeps everything at a comfortable temp, and I am even trying it on the higher settings to see how it will help with nasal congestion. So far so good. It is taking some time to get used to the moist air, but it is going ok.
Does anyone know if DME's allow you to rent or borrow a humidifer for a few dollars? It might be worth asking, the worst answer you could get is, "What are you crazy."

Are you talking about the vent air blowing on you and against the blankets? I don't think a humidifier is going to help that. It didn't for me. I haven't used my humidifier for most of the past year. I usually sleep with long sleeves because the mask blows cold on my forearms. I think I have learned how to position things so it doesn't. I just got a climateline today so I'll post in the morning if I notice a difference in the vent blast.
Someone.. Robysue or Restedgal I think, uses a thin layer of medical guaze taped loosely over the vent to disperse the air.

The ClimateLine only works with the H5i heated humidifier. It's a great system (S9 + H5i + ClimateLIne) for comfort, you should try to get your hands on the humidifier, even if it's used you can put a new water chamber in it.

I used my climateline last night and loved it, so I think I'll be using my humidifier this winter.
The jet blast is still there though, blowing on my arms and covers. I've mostly eliminated it with hose management. I just use a hook on the wall with an 8" loop of elastic to hold the hose up out of the way. This seems to keep the blast pointed up and away from me.
