well, I am one of those engineer-types, and I did wonder about the separately powered heated hoses being a potential shock hazard... Are they ALL low voltage? I know water pipe tape for freeze protection is line voltage and roughly equate the pipe tape to a heated hose.TalonNYC wrote:unless you have a ClimateLine tube, in which case it's a big heating coil.Lizistired wrote:Probably because it's plastic. Yes, I, too suffer E-think.

If I recall correctly, the purpose-built separate heated hoses you can buy are low voltage. The people with reptile heaters, though, run at 120VAC (or whatever is appropriate for their locale) unless a rheostat was added to the mix (based off of the reptile cables I saw).n0hardmask wrote:well, I am one of those engineer-types, and I did wonder about the separately powered heated hoses being a potential shock hazard... Yup. Strange things have been known to happen. This incident didn't involve a climateline hose, but it's still a classic, imho ...archangle wrote:Or chew on the climateline hose.

First, I tried to stop the flow by pinching the air hose with my teeth which I could. But loosening my bite on the hose I could not stop the flow with my chicks. It's unbelievable. So I let the air flow out my mouth. Otherwise, if I let the pressure go into my lungs I am convinced that it would have done a pneumothorax on me.

Re: ResMed S9 Grounded Plug?
While running on low voltage is good, it's also very important that there is good isolation between the hose voltage and the AC voltage.tetragon wrote:If I recall correctly, the purpose-built separate heated hoses you can buy are low voltage.
