Help with Sleepyhead

Post by Resister » Tue Nov 22, 2011 9:41 am

(Banging my head on the computer)

I can NEVER get this to open. Had it open for a few days, then when I completely shut off the computer of course the program closed. Now I can't remember how to open it again. Every time I click on it, I get lists of files. HELP! So frustrated. Using Winrar, if that makes a difference.

Yes, I am computer illiterate....

Sounds like you are clicking on the directory (folder) where the archive was unpacked. To launch SleepyHead you need to look for the file that's named SleepyHead.exe that should be located somewhere inside the folder called something like SleepyHead-0.8.7-testing-win32-full.

To make it easier to find the next time, do a right click on the SleepyHead.exe file name and select Pin to Taskbar and you'll get an icon on the task bar (the thing at the bottom of your screen) that you can then simply click on to launch SleepyHead.

Good luck

You probably already have done as Robysue suggested but I am going to post this anyway to help others who get lost in the folder looking for the application .exe file.

SleepyHead doesn't put an icon on our desktop like most software will do but we can make our own short cut to the program and put it on the desktop, on the start menu or on the task bar. Using the shortcut will bypass having to go looking in the folder each time.

So open the folder and look for the application file. I happen to have 2 of them because I just added the update to the old files so don't be confused with mine. The one highlighted in blue is the newest application exe file that if I double click on it the program will open. So if I right click on it I get these choices and this is what Robysue is talking about. Since I already have mine pinned to start menu my choice here is to unpin.
You can choose which ever you want to use. I have my taskbar hidden so I use the Start Menu to launch SleepyHead.
Also the annoying little Windows security box that pops up with each launch of SH...uncheck that little box about always telling me about this and it won't pop up any more.

If you still have issues finding the file, let me know. I was going to teach you an old school way of finding the program, but if the easier way that Pugsy and Robysue listed out for work, than my old school way is not needed.

One question though, what type of computer are you using?? A PC or Mac? I'm thinking PC as you say WinRar, but just want to check.

SleepyHead doesn't have an installer yet, because it's pre-beta, and still changes a heck of a lot.
Normally programmers don't release code this early, but in this case it allows you to have input into how SleepyHead is being shaped..

Adding an installer at this early stage for these test builds would complicate the heck out things, and my fuzzy brain couldn't cope.. :-}
It will eventually get a proper one, I promise.

I've just started playing around with Sleepyhead...so easy since my main computer is an iMac. I like it and some aspects are easier to use than Rescan (just clicking to look at smaller segments of time). I still haven't found where to look for the duration of each event. Sure it's staring me right in the face, but can someone tell me how to see the length of each event?

Individual items in the Events tab has a number in brackets, which may or may not be related to event length..
I haven't seen ResScan, so I don't know what physical data is provided duration wise.

One day I'll implement an algorithm to scan over the flow rate data and calculate the proper duration (and possibly fix the ResMed drift issues while I'm at it)
But that might be a job for SleepyHead 2.0.. (It's not easy writing signal processing code with brain fog)

OK. What I see in the brackets is the actual number of events. For example: Obstructive Apnea (6 events). I thought someone had made mention to seeing the duration but they must have been talking about Encore or Resscan. Thanks. I'm liking using the program though.

Click on the little triangle to expand the list and see the individual events with their own parentheticals.

Agree...click on the little triangle and it will show each of the events with the time in parentheses and those numbers do agree with the event duration in the ResScan software. Double click on any of the events shown and the graphs will zoom in on the event in each of the graphs with a shorter time window that provides greater detail of data immediately before and after the event.

Duration of the event in seconds.
