True but we cannot help someone unless they are willing to help themselves.

Also the sad truth that sometimes individuals just like to yank our chains and have "fun" seeing what responses they can glean. Being sleep deprived is no excuse for profanity or poor manners. Sorry, but I am with LSAT and Nan on this one until proven to me that someone isn't just wanting to yank some chains. You weren't around when we had Mikey and his aliases here. For some reason I am seeing visions of Mikey and it isn't pretty. You would have felt sorry for him also....for awhile.

I'm not a "happy" CPAP user either. I tolerate it as best I can.

I haven't slept much since I started using a CPA a year ago, but it does control the frequency and length of my Apnea events. It is a huge lifestyle change, and I'm always tired and having some memory difficulties which seem to be related to the treatment.

I suspect much of my problem might be an enlarged Uvula since I've had Docs comment mine is larger than normal. I've "googled" that type of surgery and don't want to go there. The possibility of a positive outcome seems limited and greater problems can be created. The post-surgery recovery sounds really awful. I've been there, done that, with Hiatal Hernia surgery...I have trouble swallowing and the corrective procedure is only supposed to last a few months.

Sometimes, there just aren't good choices in life and the outcomes we'd like don't seem to be available. We have take what we can get. I'm having great difficulty accepting that philosophy, but that's the way it is.

Very well said, Pugsy
I totally agree with you, and LSAT. Over the years I've seen this type of trolling behavior many times, unfortunately.
At this point, there's no good reason to think otherwise.

But responding to those poor manners with poor manners of your own is an excuse? Where I come from calling people names is pretty poor manners, I've seen the term "faker", "whiner", and "idiot" so far and I just speed read over all the replies.

Please tell us what kind of surgery they are requiring you to try CPAP before you have.

I agree, I've seen trolls on other forums as well, however I'm not going to conclude he's a troll just because others have been trolls. His initial post looks more like a frustrated rant than it does a trollpost. I also agree with the profanity, calling someone a jerk is uncalled for, but responding by calling him an idiot is equally uncalled for.

If it turns out he's a troll, then oh well, the jokes on me and it don't bother me one bit. It's not worth it for me getting excited or upset or angry over a troll.

But, on the other hand if he indeed is someone who is having a difficult time with cpap and is venting, then he's supposedly on one of the best forums on the net for apnea, with people who've been there. Let him get it off his chest, I'm not going to automatically assume he's here to yank chains. Just because he doesn't post in a manner we would agree with doesn't make him a trolls or someone who's yanking our chain. There have been others on this forum that came here with a lot of anger and are now full fledged members and cpap users. If it turns out he just wants to keep ranting and raving, then we can go about helping someone else and ignore him.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

I think we also tend to forget that CPAP DOES suck. Most of us just realize that it sucks less than apnea for us.

It's sort of like saying having someone cut into our body and remove a chunk of our internal organs is a bad thing. It's just not as bad as appendicitis.

OK, I'm willing to accept that Ldrakekat isn't a troll... however by not even attempting to answer any of the questions asked of him/her I'm losing interest in wanting to help.

I don't believe that I have called OP anything. I have tried to maintain some semblance of ladylike manners.
Perhaps you thought differently. Oh well, it is hard to convey all our thoughts with just a few words. I can only do the best I can and I will be the first to admit I am not perfect.

Just as the OP is free to rant and rave and whatever....so are those people who wish to express their opinion and call things like they see them.
If we don't agree. Well, it is not the first time on this forum and it certainly won't be the last.

Alshain, you are new to this forum and to be commended for trying to keep an open mind. Long ago I was probably a lot more like you than you might think. Unfortunately having my time wasted in the past has drained me of a lot of my patience. So I try to expend my energies in a direction where they will be best used and appreciated.

I am an avid animal lover. I would take in every possible stray in the state if I could. It breaks my heart to see one that I can't. I can't save them all. A hard pill for me to swallow.

I use the same rationale here. I can't save them all. Some people don't really want help. Some people want a quick fix and there just isn't one. Some people my personality just doesn't jive with. Some people just like to play games.
Some people need a 2 X 4 up against their head to get their attention. Some people are simply incapable of helping themselves. I can't save them all.

OP was asked some very important questions that need to be answered before anyone can have any sort of idea to possibly help. Instead of answering the questions the OP chose to lash out. Knee jerk reaction I suppose, but would have been more beneficial to expend that energy into answering the questions asked. Of course maybe lashing out is all he can do or wants to do right now. Either way, counter productive and a total waste of time and energy.

You are young and new to all this. Lots of energy, vigor and haven't had your chain yanked as much as I have so probably have more patience and certainly more forgiveness than I have. If you wish to try to help OP though...don't expend your energies chastising other members for using whiner, idiot, jerk because you know what? They don't care what you think of their comments and you are going to need every bit of your energy to try to help the OP if that is what you choose to do.

No, no I wasn't accusing you specifically. Just several posts in the thread, I didn't want to name names and call people out, just remind them that they were once in the same position.

I agree though, the OP needs to go back through the thread, read each reply closely and answer the questions asked before we can continue to help.

My only reply to all this is you need to suck it up and do what you have to do and quit belly aching about it. Of course that's just the retired military coming out in me.

Guys
The meaning to what I said was.....we would all look like a bunch of idiots if we ranted and raved...me included.
I don't mind helping those that need help, but it seems we have been inundated lately with posters that either don't want help or won't take the excellent advice given by good folks that are here to help. Also...reverse physcology frequently works, I've been know to tell a poster that we would be reading his/her obituary in the not too distant future if they did'nt listen to the advice given. .......Sheesh...now I'm getting myself in a knot...better shut up and go away for awhile.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.
